7 weeks into first pregnancy and feeling terrible

Hi, I thought I'd come on here to get some feedback and support from others who may have gone through a similar process.

I recently found out I was pregnant and ever since have been feeling pretty terrible - constant all-day exhaustion, nausea, emotional and very hot (the hot weather probably isn't helping). I haven't been sleeping amazingly well either and have had insomnia for a few nights running.

Last week I had to take a couple of days off work because I felt far too weak to leave the flat, let alone managing getting to work and staying there all day.

I just don't know what I'm going to do for the next few weeks of this first trimester (after which I'm hoping my symptoms will ease somewhat). I don't feel like I can go to work tomorrow but feel really guilty and will need to explain myself soon. I also have hypothyroidism which I think may be making my tiredness more intense but am getting some blood tests back tomorrow so should find out more then.

If anyone has any tips on how to deal with work that would be great. Thank you!

Do what you can at minimal effort.
If it gets too much, don't go in.
Get signed off by the doctor if necessary and don't feel bad about it - the first tri can be very tough.
Take care x

Make sure you are taking a good pregnancy vitamen, you may be low in some things, which makes you feel worse. Make sure you are drinking loads of water, i find myself struggling when i havent had enough to drink.

It does get better, just try to take it one day at a time. And dont feel guilty about work, see your GP and get signed off if you need to.

Forge yourself to eat to help with the nausea and maybe see the Dr to get some medication to help. I did this time and it did help a bit. I wish I'd done that with DC1.

Other than that just don't move from the sofa.

I've been the same - nausea, fatigue, insomnia. I also have an underactive thyroid. Normally they need to increase your medication in pregnancy, so the new dose may help when you get that.

This is my second pregnancy and after 12 weeks I felt fine - hoping for the same this time.

I haven't found any cure, but the only thing that keeps me sane is getting as much rest as possible. I've been in bed by 10 most nights (usually midnight). Just try to adjust your lifestyle for the next few weeks.

Thanks, everyone. I was feeling really bad again yesterday evening but now it's the morning I'm feeling ok. My morning sickness is definitely a lot worse at night - in the mornings I feel relatively human. I'm going to attempt going into work at least for this morning and see how I feel.
