I am 10 wks into my 2nd pregnancy and struggling a bit with Ms. I had it as well with my 1st pregnancy from week 6-16. Hwever, this time it is either worse or, more likely, more difficult to manage due to also being a SAHM with a 20 month old.

I am finding it quite difficult taking him out as after a while I start feeling sick and I sometimes have to physically carry him, etc. which doesn't help, and I really don't like being sick on the street, and, going by my 1st pregnancy, I know it is going to get quite a bit worse before it gets better...

I am normally on the "medicine as last resort" camp, but I am now thinking about taking the anti-emetic reccommended by the midwife so that I can take care of ds "normally" and not have to park him in front of the tv so much...

If you are/ have taken anti-emetics, did they work for you? Did you notice the effect straight away? Any side effects?

Thanks

Hi there yes I took some from week 5 to week 9 ish an they really helped, I no longer need them, but I have two dd's one I reception and one age 2.9 so similar concerns, some family help but the day must go on and children need dealing with!! I still love 7ish though when they go to bed, even though am no longer sick , dc 3 due later this year, I love the peace and calm that arrives!! Take the meds and don't worry, my doc and midwife said same thing, xx

I did. There just seemed no other way to cope with the constant nausea. To be honest they didn't work so I had to just ride it out anyway! Baby is doing just fine :)

I am preggers with DC3 and didn't take anything for MS for the first two but this time I feel so much worse. I started taking them three days a go and they have changed everything as I can now eat again! I mainly did it because I couldn't keep my food down, but now realise that it must have been pretty grim for my kids and DH to listen to me hurling. Plus, it made me such a misery to live with that the tablets really are best all round for me. Only downside is that they make me even more sleepy than usual...

Thank you so much for your replies. I think I will give them a try and see if they do work for me (fingers crossed) as I am starting to dread taking ds out and it's not fair on him now that we finally have nice weather!
Thanks again.

I personally didn't take them, even though I was prescribed them by a doctor. I figured, the less medication I take, the better for baby. But then, I've not even taken a paracetamol since I found out about my pregnancy. I suffered quite badly with MS from weeks 7 - 14, currently 18 weeks and glad I rode it out :)

I took them from 6 weeks to 17 weeks as I had really bad MS, they took the edge off but didn't get rid of the symptoms all together! I would take them again as they did help. I was almost admitted to hospital with the MS and was off work for 8 weeks I think that if I hadn't have taken them then I would have been a lot worse. I'm now 38+6 and touch wood haven't had any sickness (apart from a couple of random episodes) since 17weeks. If I were you I'd go to the doctors an see what they can give you. Hope it eases soon for you!!
