The MWs weren't concerned at all...is the still time for baby to move head down? Dc1 was never breech in the third tri and this time it's really uncomfortable not to mention I don't want any complications during the birth.

I was told wait til 36w -ds turned at 34w I think....polishing the floor on hands and knees was one useful exercise ! also leaning over balance ball ..i was thinking of trying acupuncture as well if he didn't shift but luckily he did...

there's time, DS5 was breech but turned by 36 weeks when I had a scan. he was VBAC

DS4 was footling breech - discovered at 34 weeks. that was that, they tried to turn him externally, which was awful and didn't work.
he was ELSC

DD was also breech till about 34 or 36 weeks ( last baby,I can't remember exactly?) then turned. also normal birth

(first were never breech)

I made no effort to ensure they turn, but they all did eventually.
( not DS4 of course, his foot was stuck)
I don't think it depends on the mother tbh but some people say it does.
no harm in trying but don't expect results IYSWIM. Smile

Thank you all...glad I still have plenty of time for baby to turn head down hopefully!

I get the impression they wait till 36 weeks to see if theyve turned and if not certain send you for scans. I think quite normal to turn between 32 and 36 weeks- only 3% of babies are breech at 36 I read somewhere.

ItCameFromOuterSpace · 27/06/2013 13:58

Great, so there's still almost 3 weeks for baby to turn. Sall I try and do any special exercises in the meantime or no need?

I'm breech at 35+2 and no one seemed concerned in the least until I was 34 weeks. I've now had talks with the MW and the consultant about options if he doesn't turn - they'll be sending me for a scan next week to check and then they will offer ECV at 37 weeks and/or CS at 39.

Regarding exercises, both MW and consultant said there's no evidence any of the postural stuff works but none of it can hurt so you might as well. I've been going swimming on my front a lot, hanging off the couch, doing belly-down pregnancy yoga, etc. and he does seem to be a lot squirmier than he was. Still pretty firmly head up though. Smile

I heard somewhere though that sleeping on your left side might be most beneficial for baby and you in general - something about how your internal organs are.

not to turn baby just in general.

ItCameFromOuterSpace · 27/06/2013 17:42

I sleep on the left side anyway...really miss sleeping flat on my back Sad thank you both amazing and HJ

just to add some babies can turn even later than 38 weeks.

my MW friend told me that one of her patients baby kept on turning from head down to breech and back several times in the last few weeks, right up to birth!
in fact she had a scan on day of needing to be induced/ELSC
baby was breech, so mum was being prepped for ELSC and wheeled into theatre.
they literally were about to give her a spinal when said she wanted to push. panicked checking, baby's head fully engaged.born within 30 mins! Grin

Oh my god just sawa. YouTube video of an ecv...looks so painful! Really hope baby turns on their own and glad I'm only 32+4!
