Have been sat around for weeks in my smugness that hospital bag is packed all clothes and moses basket sheets have been washed ironed put away in size order and in what they are. Stocked up on enough nappies for what could possibly be a small army of babies etc etc. Then just realised as Im taking the plastic of the cot mattress that I may have forgotten to buy any cot sheets and I only have the one blanket which I knitted... Smart I know!

Where is the best (and the cheapest) place to get cot sheets and blankets?

Asda. Two pack of cotsheets will do you (baby will no doubt be in the moses basket for the first few months anyways)

Put your knitted blanket over the bottom for show, and once baby is big enough to go in them, pick up a Grobag and use the knitted blanket for the pram.

A good trick to save on the laundry is to lay a muslin square where the babys head will go, and put bubs o top. Any sick/possetting just needs the muslin whipping away and a fresh one putting down - no stripping the whole bed.

I second Asda, their Little Ones cot sheets are good quality and after 9 months use still haven't bobbled. We started with two fitted sheets each for our twins and I went out and bought a third for each of them, which is plenty for us.

A sleeping bag is a great option instead of blankets and babies can go into them from 8lb8, I think.

I've been given some gro-bags that say they're ok from 7lb 7. I picked up a couple of cot sheets in the reduced section of Mamas and Papas today, but haven't got any more yet. Thanks for the muslin tip, that sounds well worth knowing.

Mothercare have got a good sale on too. I picked up packs of 2 sheets for 5.49 yesterday.

Do this! I did. Saves on washing. Much easier than constantly changing the sheet Grin

Asdas here too - their cot sheets are great as are the cellular blankets I have loads from ds the other year I'm reusing for dd as they are still going strong.

SupermansBigRedPants · 25/06/2013 16:08

Ah yes also agree with muslin under head for barfy baby - ds would have had the cot changed hourly otherwise!

Oh and another tip - if you run out of moses basket sheets, use a pillowcase.
