Which pushchair?

Not really sure which catagory to put this in. Basically just wondering if any other mums out there can reccomend a good pushchair/travel system that isn't rediculously priced.

This is our first so not really sure which one to go for. I saw a post about this last night comparing two but i can't find it again so thought i'd make my own Grin.

I've been thinking about it and I think i'd like one of those 3 in 1 type ones, where it has the car seat and the soft cot and then when the baby is a bit older the sitting up pushchair bit. I'd like to have one that faces me while in the first 2 parts and then outwards when in the sitting up part.

Also DH said something about suspension and the wheels because we live in the highlands and we're due in winter...apparently winter up here can get quite bad Sad. I don't drive so basically know nothing about suspension/wheels etc. and DH works a lot so I have to do the base work on finding what we sould look at buying.

Any reviews/recommendations would be greatly appreciated :) Flowers

There's some seasoned pram/pushchair experts in the pushchair section under products, I recieved some fantastic advice when buying mine. I haven't had chance to use it yet as not due for another 4 weeks but opted for the Babystyle Oyster in the end, decently priced, offered the options I wanted. For what you need it for, I would probably say a 3-wheeler but definitely post in pushchair section they will be able to offer some better options. Smile

I love my Stokke. They are reasonable if bought second hand.

chillisbopper · 21/06/2013 19:44

Thanks PhieEl06 I apparently seem to be able to find my way around this website better using the mobile app as I'm sure I must have been in the pushchair section last night but on the laptop earlier I was stumped Grin

We just got an Uppababy Vista travel system - came with the Maxi Cosi car seat and base (the car seat also fits on the frame of the travel system for the first 6 months. This was a fantastic deal. We got it in Canterbury. Really good shop and lovely people.

I've been looking at a lot of prams and decided the silver cross wayfarer is the best value. You get the carry cot included in the price £495 so it's just the car seat on top. I know it's not cheap but it seems the most sturdy etc. plus my mum is adamant that a silver cross will last and last. The mamas and papas sola was the other one I looked at but by the time u have added the carry cot and extra bits like adaptors for the car seat to fit, it's as much as a silver cross and not as good quality in my opinion. I have seen a few silver cross second hand for reasonable prices.
I'd try and find a baby store with a good few prams in. I tried Internet shopping first but u need to have a go with them.

I just got a Cosatto Giggle and I love it!

CornishFirstTimer22 · 22/06/2013 11:40

I've just bought a Sola which is an amazing offer with bounty at the moment - www.bounty.com/bountyoffers/precious_little_one/3-in-1%20Pram%20Systems/154966/flash-sale-200613-MamasPapasSolaPushchair-PLO

But only until the 24th!! I was going to get this anyway at the higher price, so really happy to find this. We're going to get a carrycot on top but that still means for the whole lot we end up with good change from £500.

Gingerbreadpixie · 22/06/2013 11:58

We just bought a Graco Evo Travel System (ie carrycot and car seat included with the from-birth stroller) for under £400. It seems a good choice for us as its light, fits into our relatively small car boot and is collapsable with one hand (important for us).

SpottyTeacakes · 22/06/2013 12:04

I did lots of research and also posted on here quite a bit. I went with the Mutsy Evo which I love. I can't fault it at all. Also have a look at the baby jogger versa (you can get a gt version which might be good for you?).

MotherOfNations · 22/06/2013 12:12

I've recenty bought a travel system tom eBay calle Xtrall 3 in 1. They are only £248 with everything included even a parasol and changing bag. The raincover is pretty thin and flimsy though.
A Scottish company called little devils direct do a travel system called careers 3 in 1 that may be worth a look and are around £300. They have been nominated for an award recently so can't be too bad.

froubylou · 22/06/2013 12:25

It will depend on your budget to be honest. I intend to spend no more than £300 on a travel system to be honest and will shop around for the best system. Im not due until December so hopefully there will be some decent sale s on as the spring summer range s cross over to the autumn winter ranges.

I think you do need to try them and see how they handle first so plan a couple of trips to the bigger stores to try a few then have a look online and at the smaller independent shops. Also be aware of which shop's will price match etc.

I had a graco one last time with dd and loved it. Until I got my maclaren push chair lol. So this time im saving a good bit of money towards that and my big pram will be relegated to being used for stables and pony shows.

2/3 pieces of the travel systems you only use for a short amount of time usually so I can't see the point in spending a bomb on something for 6 months or so use.

LittleH78 · 22/06/2013 18:18

Hubby and I are both on the short-arse side...anyone have recommendations on anything particularly good for those of us who don't hit 5' 1"?

SpottyTeacakes · 22/06/2013 18:20

My musty Evo has an adjustable handle. I'm 5'3" and have no problems Smile

segajen · 24/06/2013 12:44

I have an uppa baby visa and think its great. the basket underneath is a great size and so many of my mummy friends have commented on it. the back wheels are much bigger than on most prams and the frame and overall size of pram sits a bit higher and is very sturdy.

StormBird · 24/06/2013 13:41

Uppa Baby Vista all the way in my opinion. But to be honest you need to test drive them and find out what suits you. Good Luck.

BentleyBelly · 24/06/2013 15:32

We have bought an Out n about little nipper 360 with a carry cot and the adapters for a maxi cosy car seat. Paid about £300 in Kiddicare with a voucher I got when the store opened, its since been on sale for even less than we paid. The car seat would be about another £100 but we already have one from my SIL. We live in the New Forest and needed something that would off road as baby will be visiting my horses and dog walking with me daily, it has 3 wheels and suspension and unlike the others in the same category I could lift it into the car. Really impressed so far!

parttimer79 · 24/06/2013 15:38

I got an Uppababy vista too - £100 off because we got a blue one rather than any other colour so do see if there are similar deals.

We did a 1 months £1 trial of Which? and read the reviews then text drove our favourites and tried collapsing them, lifting them into the car etc
Now I'm looking forward to trying it out on a real baby and not just my oversized handbag.

FoofFighter · 24/06/2013 16:27

Hi chillisbopper, another fellow Highlander here :)

We've bought the new Mothercare Xpedior. It appears to be the new improved version of their old My3/My4.

A 2 in 1 seat unit that turns from carrycot into a seat unit, face both ways, relatively light, huge shopping basket, car seat can fit on chassis, it doesn't have air wheels which I would prefer tbh but they look up to the job :) it was £250 inc raincover, footmuff, headhugger and the 0 stage carseat.
