Question about hospital towels

Hi All.

Watching OBEM last night, my DH and I had a question about hospital towels.

When a baby is born, they always put them in a fresh, white towel. Is this provided by the hospital? If so, how do they keep them clean without having to do a major boil wash with strong detergent - thus making the towel too coarse for a new born. Or, do you bring your own??

My husband did a google search, but only found information relating to sanitary towels...bless him

Thanks

The hospital provided our towels. No idea how they wash them though.

The hospital DS was born in provided towels.

Were they soft towels, or like the hard hotel towels?

They are hospital towels washed with all the hospital laundry (sheets etc). They aren't exactly soft but not so hard you would worry, sometimes babies need a rub down to stimulate them to breathe properly, i
don't think a really soft towel would work.

I think you are possibly thinking too much about this.

It's your first baby isn't it?! If you are too worried about a rough towel you could always take a blanket of your own to wrap your PFB baby in. All hospital linen is boil washed with industrial detergent and I bet it isn't non bio either!

It is indeed our first Smile

Not worried, or over-thinking, just a naturally curious person and wanted to know (the kid that asks 'why' 20 times.....that's still me at age 30). I didn't lose sleep over it Grin

Thanks for your answers!
