Booking in appointment - do I call them post GP referral?

Hi, I'm 10+4 and saw my GP yesterday to get the ball rolling with the MW etc. It's only happening now because I've just been discharged from an assisted conception clinic following IVF.

The GP was going to fax my forms over to the hospital where we'll be receiving our a-n care yesterday, do I need to call them myself directly to get my 12 week appointment/scan or wait for them to contact me (will this take an age)? I'm concerned because it's not long until I'm 12 weeks (and we're going away when I'll be 12+3 so I'd like to get in before them to ease my anxiety!).

First timer here, so no idea what's the 'done thing' (or best way ahead).

Congratulations Smile

My GP filled out and faxed off a referral form but I called the midwives myself after a few days because I hadn't heard anything. I was only 4 weeks when I saw the doc, but the midwife booked me in for when I was 7 weeks and then 8 weeks. I don't think there's any harm in giving them a call Smile

Thanks - was worrying if I was being neurotic, but think I'll call them tomorrow morning (at work now and don't want them all to know yet!). I'm worried that as it's a busy hospital we're going to (St George's in Tooting), I'll have to wait for ages!

No worries. They won't mind you calling either, especially when you say you are going away. However, this doesn't mean they will be able to fit you in if they are busy, but better to call earlier than later if that makes sense.

Good luck Smile
