I've just had my dating scan at 15+3 as i was further aling they decided to take all measurments and have a good look, the sonographer said my baby has a bit to much water on the brain, they said as they usually don't scan at this time they cant really say how often this happens. They said it can sort itself out by 20weeks which is why they dont usually have a detailled look until then but have booked me in for a scan with a specialist next week. Can anyone please tell me if this has happened to them and everything has been ok, by ok I mean by 20 weeks all was normal? I'm going mad here and I'm so emotional, wouldnt have been so bad if they could have told me a bit more but all they kept saying was as they don't scan at this stage usually they can't say how normal it is. Thanks in advance.

Not personally but my sister had this with her baby last year.

I don't think it was back to normal by 20 weeks, she went for monthly scans up to full term to keep an eye on it. By 8 months it was within the normal range again. Her beautiful little girl was 100% healthy when she popped out and hasn't had any health issues since.

We had this at our 20-week scan. I had to go for another scan at 25 weeks, by which time everything looked normal. DD is now 8 weeks old and her brain development seems perfectly good - in fact people are always commenting on how alert she is.

It was really worrying at the time though - I made the mistake of googling it and ended up completely paranoid about what it could be.

We were told that it is something that does sometimes happen although no one really seemed to know why.

Big hugs and I really hope everything turns out to be fine.

Thanks so much for both replys and positive to, just what I need right now. They told me this sometimes happens and resolves but the waiting game is so hard :( we have a daughter who is 4, she was born with PRS which we didn't know about before she was born, so much easier when your unaware. Thanks again guys.
