Hi all,

I am due to move in just over a month back to my home town and so obviously will be booking in to the local hospital there and will need to change my antenatal care.

Does anyone know how I go about this?

Good luck with the move, Lj8893. I'm moving this week Smile but staying in the area.

I'd register with a new GP asap, and they should be able to refer you. If you call whatever GP practice that is now, they might be happy to give you the direct number for the midwife team locally, so you can contact them directly.

Heyyy i've just moved from Newcastle to Manchester at 34 weeks. I went straight to the local gps, and registered as a patient and also filled out a transfer form for the midwife. They gave me the number for triage if i had any problems and also the number to phone the midwife to book an appointment at 35 weeks. I gave it a few days to make sure they had received my transfer papers, then I gave them a ring and booked in :)
Just make sure you take all your notes from the previous doctors and thats about it! they took a complete new history at the 35 week appointment cos i think it was easier than trying to navigate through all my notes. They had to take new bloods too.
With booking in at the hospital, you will have to wait til youre in the area, as you wont be registered with the local doctors there yet til you move.
How far a long are you?

I've just moved at 16 weeks. I just went to my new GP surgery and registered with them. Then went to the receptionist and asked to make an app with the midwife. She'll just guide me through the transfer from there. Easy peasy :)

Thanks guys, sounds as easy as I hoped it would be!
I'm 21 weeks and will be 26 weeks once I have moved so I will register with a new gp straight away and book my 28 week midwife apt at the same time hopefully!
