Smear test - 'inadequate' sample and now I'm pregnant! Should I have the test repeated?

Just wondering whether anyone else has been in the same or a similar situation...?
I had a routine smear test in January but the lab couldn't give me a result because the sample was inadequate. By the time my GP surgery informed me, I had already become pregnant, and the practice nurse told me to re-book another smear test with her once I was past the first trimester. Cut to today - I'm 18 weeks pregnant now and went along for smear test with the nurse, and she wasn't sure whether I should have it done or not! I've come away without having it done and she is going to try to find out what to do...
I would normally just follow the nurse's advice but she seems really unsure - when I got my results, she initially told me to wait until after I've given birth, then rang me to say I should book a smear test in the second trimester after all. When I saw her today, she spent ages searching through different guidelines but couldn't find any that apply to my situation and so wasn't sure what to do. So... has anyone else had the same problem? What were you advised to do?!

I was due a smear when pregnant and when i told them they said its best to wait until after you have given birth as your body changes while pregnant so may not accurate.

This was the colposcopy unit that told me this, not just a nurse.

Can I have a cervical screening test during pregnancy?

Thank you both, it seems like the reason to wait is more about the accuracy of the results rather than any risk to the baby. At least I'll feel better about following the nurse's advice if she tells me to have the test redone now!
