We have a baby jogger city mini, which is pretty compact, and you can easily pop the wheels on and off to make it even smaller if needed. You can put various carseats on top of it to form a travel system, they just clip on and off. The bjcm is also a stonking good buggy all round.

We've had ours in the boot of a normal mini but I can't say for sure about a convertible.

I had a mini one convertible and loved it. I would put DS in the front seat in his maxi cosi car seat and fold down the back seats to fit the chasis of my travel system in flat through the boot.

I have a Uppababy Vista and love it, its lightweight and easy to collapse and fitted in.

The problem came when my DS outgrew the small maxi cosi around 9 months and needed to go up into the next car seat. I found the chassis would fit upside down behind the drivers seat but i did give in and get a new car... A mini countryman, which i love just as much.

I have a Fiat 500 and had a BJCM (though I had a separate car seat that didn't "click" on), then progressed to a Quinny Zapp. The Zapp I had came with fittings you could put on so a Maxi Cosi car seat fitted on, or there is another version that comes with everything. Both fitted easily in my tiny car boot (I needed to take one wheel off the BJCM, which was very easy).

Thanks for the replies so far...

The only problem with folding my seats down is for passengers also in the car : / Looks like there will be a few options. I'm not sure if the boot space is different in a normal mini.

The boot space is different, the main problem will be physically fitting a buggy through the tiny gap where the boot opens. Non-convertibles have a traditional boot that opens up, not down.
