Pregnancy vitamins without iron?

I have just had an early mc, just before 6 weeks and thinking about ttc again. I'd like to give the next pregnancy the best start I can so was wondering about vitamins - this time around I was taking folic acid and vit d but realised the vit d supplements were too high - 25mcg rather than 10. In my successful pregnancy I took pregnacare for a while but realised the iron in them was making me sick (or at least more sick, anyway!). Are there any pregnancy vitamins that don't contain iron?

I do realise taking vitamins won't prevent this from happening again btw, I just want to do something!

Are you sure it was the iron? I know a few women who had issues with pregnacare but were fine with other brands such as sanatogen or shop's own brand. Maybe try a different brand first?

or take them at another time of day?
they made me feel funny/faint when I took them in the morning, but fine if I took them after dinner.

I was taking sanatogen mother to be multi vitamins before while ttc and then at 12 weeks the midwife just gave me loads of these "healthy start for women" vitamins which you can get at boots as well and they only contain vitamin D, vitamin C and Folic Acid. Although while she was giving me them she told me that pregnacare were the leading brand and the ones the nhs recommend if you're buying them (so god knows why she was giving me more since I didn't ask for them but hey saves some money right!). To be honest though I don't aways remember to take them, I have a phone app that keeps reminding me but still forget!! I'd recommend the sanatogen mother to be because they are supposed to prepare your body before you get pregnant and you can continue them through out and then they have a different one for breast feeding if you are planning to. But I don't recall the iron content in them. Perhaps ask your pharmacist or family planning doctor what advice they have as well. Good luck Thanks x

I had high iron levels through pregnancy - the midwives were always surprised by my blood results. I know too much iron causes nausea so it made sense to me that if my levels were naturally high, taking more probably wasn't a good idea. I don't know for sure though so I might give another brand a go and take them later in the day, that's a good idea. Thanks!

And good point about breastfeeding, thanks, I breastfed for 14 months last time and didn't take any supplements or give drops to ds and have since read the advice for mother and baby to take vit d especially if you live in the north, are fair and cover up in the sun - all of which apply to me!
