walking with the kids in a small town.

That does sound nice.
But over here they should do a thing or 2, preferably more, about road safety.

Tomorrow there's something to do in town. It's a small town and there won't be that much place to park the car.
The event is only a couple of streets away from us. Not so hard to walk, but sooo uncomfortable with 3 small kids.

We'll take the car and drive like 1 or 2 minutes, find a place to park. How stupid is that.
Two times we need to cross the road and both times there's very little view. Both are 30 miles roads, but a lot of the cars and trucks are speeding over there.

I've complaint about it by the council that something must be done about road safety. They don't do anything, because not that many accidents happen over here....

They're seriously waiting for an accident to happen... I can't believe that.

It's not only these 2 roads that I need to cross if I want to go in town. In town things are not really that much better either.
Just about everyone is complaining about it. But nothing is being done. The school in town has asked and asked and let the kids write letters, drawings etc to the council asking for the speed limit to be at least dropped to 20 miles instead of 30 around the school. But again nothing.

Best thing would be traffic lights, but they won't do that so at least lower the speed limit. But nope, nothing....

The first thing that makes me furious (and maybe more now, now that I'm pregnant) is that the council doesn't do anything until something serious happens. The car drivers go past a sign clearly saying 30. But a lot of them just refuse to drive slowly over here.

No one seems to care about safety.

I only had a near accident over here when I was crossing the road with husband and kids. I've seen enough near accidents and some accidents over here. Thank goodness no serious casualties.

Are there more mothers over here who have same kind of road conditions around where you live?

Where's 'over here'? UK? Where are you from, op?

If it costs money, it isn't going to happen until there's an accident - preferably one involving someone in politics or related to. (I know 'preferably' is an unfortunate word to use, but you know what I mean).

Here in Spain it's exactly this.

I don't think no-one cares about safety OP. I do think 20MPH is a better limit by a school though. If you are really serious you need to get the PTA to link up with the local councillor and MEP and put together a proper business proposal showing where exactly the speed should be changed, and requesting red painting on road to make drivers aware to slow down. Does the school not have a lollipop lady? I should add that councils don't tend to change street speeds/signs etc until there has been a fatality I think, or a hell of a lot of campaigning, and the local councillor, perhaps MEP etc is on board.

Sometimes they will do speed traps in bad areas. I live in Germany and over here no-one will stop to let you across the road, in fact it is illegal to cross a crossing if it isn't green for you (and everyone really does wait even if not a car in sight). People speed about here too, although less so than in the UK I think, because they can just go to the autobahn if they want to go like the clappers. For me it is about being sensible and keeping an eye out - I am also pg and have a small dog and must sometimes keep my wits about me. TBH I have been hit a couple of times by cyclists not looking, and driving on pavements etc.
