Hi ladies just wondering if you think there is any truth in the above...a few people have said to me that babies usually go very quiet just before labour, and I can't really remember with dc1&2 but currently 38 wks pg with dc3 and was hoping things might start happening soon but going by the amount of movement, s/he is dancing the light fandango In there!! So just wanted to know if ye think there is any fact in it or just another piece of pregnancy fable!!

It's a dangerous myth. If a baby 'goes quiet', there might be something wrong & you need to be seen by a midwife. Really if movements change to be noticeably more or less active, see a midwife.

Absolutely agree with DinoSnores

Oh babas movement is basically the same as always, has the same pattern everyday really, so I'm not concerned its just a few people have asked me the same thing, as in 'any signs yet' and have mentioned that they usually go a bit quiet before labour starts, it's not something I'd heard with my other two dc so was wondering....obviously if there was a change in movement pattern I'd def get it checked out immediately....thanks ladies.

DS went "quiet" just before labour, or so I thought. I went to the hospital to be monitored as I was shit scared. Turned out he was as active as usual just that I was having contractions every 3 minutes (who knew?!) which was why I wasn't feeling any movement.

Gave birth 24 hours later.

But definitely get checked out. Way better to be safe than sorry!

No ds's movements were still there but not as intense when I was in early labour. My contractions were 30-40 mins apart at the start. He didnt go "quiet".
