I just fell over in the bath and hit my bump quite hard against the side of the bath. I'm 19 weeks pregnant. Is there a standard procedure for this? Hospital or GP or what?

Give your midwife a call to put your mind at rest. I'm fairly sure you don't need an ambulance!

I think the baby is very well protected as this stage as they are still very small. But I would phone my midwife and just explain what happened. She mIght refer you to maternity assessment unit or just check baby's heartbeat herself.
I presume you've no pain or bleeding-if you do I'd be tempted to pop to Hodpital.

If you're really worried, call your mw. But our bodies naturally protect our bump, amniotic fluid, I'm sure everything will be fine.

When I was in hospital for other reasons while pregnant I saw a no of people walk in to be checked due to falls so I would do that. All were ok btw

As above, call the midwife for reassurance.

I fell over on ice and landed on the bump. A man driving past saw all of this, stopped his car and insisted on calling an ambulance or dropping me into Dr's. i went to the dr with his help, had a doppler scan and a quick internal check. Both the baby and I were fine. And had faith in the kindness of strangers restored too.

As above give midwives/epu a call to put your mind at ease. Unless you've got lots of abdominal pain or bleeding its usually nothing to worry about as baby is very well protected . That being said I'm sure you'll drive yourself mad with worry if you don't get checked out. I had a nasty fall fairly early on, called in gor advice and drove myself up to hospital, they squeezed me in for a scan, gave me some paracetamol and sent me home as all was well.

Thanks all, I have a number to call now so I feel much better, thank you

If your blood type is O- then you may have to go in to get an anti-d injection. Try not to worry though, these tiny babies are very hardy and, as others have said, very well protected.
