Hi, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and baby is breech. I've been booked in for an EVC on Monday and I'm just a bit worried about the procedure. Has anyone had this done and how painful is it?

I haven't but I read a thread on here from. Lady who had it done and was warning against it. I can't remember exact details but maybe you can search for it? Or hopefully someone will come along who knows more than me.

I had it with my second at 37 weeks after he turned really late. At first I said no, then spoke through pros and cons with my consultant and decided that to try and have cs was no worse than just to book a section. I had an 18 mo at home so was keen not to stay in hospital if not necessary.
For me it was an absolute breeze! I was given a muscle relaxant, then the dr literally turned him in about 10 seconds, he hadn't finished explaining what would happen!! I had a normal delivery at term and was home with both my children together 6 hours later so it was well worth it for me.

Btw for me genuinely not painful, just an odd sensation, although I do think I was quite lucky.

I'm 36 weeks with a breech (second baby) and will be offered an ecv at 38 wks if its still breech. I spoke to my midwife about it and she was quite against them but it depends on what type of breech it is. There is a low risk of placental abrupt ion amongst other things, and for her (and me) the very slight risk isn't worth taking. I'd talk it through with your mw/consultant if poss x

In my limited experience, healthcare professionals can seem keen to do it but, when pressed, they explain that there is a risk of placental abruption and cord round neck. I have come across some awful stories of people losing their babies as a result of abruption post the turning, so J personally wouldn't.
