just wondering if anyone else had/have this? i had it with my previous 2 pregnancies but thankfully didnt kickstart progressive contractions and were born full term..

i have it again this time (dc4), and am having mild sporadic contractions with mild pain. no bleeding no leakages and a perfectly fine baby.
consultant appt tomorrow Wink

im finding it a pain in the ass but trying to relax so it goes again. got an exam in the morning too Confused

I did, with dd2. I had several bleeds, a start at labour at 29 weeks which they managed to stop, then delivered her st 32 weeks.

That's not very comforting sorry, but it was a pretty horrible pregnancy, I was so worried all through. However looking back they took such good extra care of me because of the issues.

How far along are you?

only 19+4 weeks... it only started up again 2 weeks ago...

i was admitted with dc3 a few times at 21 weeks, 31 weeks and 34 weeks... cervix opened a crack but then went tightly closed again. ive had an early pregnancy bleed but it stopped at about 9 weeks.. ive been keeping an eye on the hb with my doppler and im feeling movements.

Oh it's just so frightening isn't it, I had a horrible pregnancy, threatened miscarraige at ten weeks, hospitalised at 20, back again at 29, let home after 2 weeks on strict orders to bed rest, back in a middle of the night dash at 32 weeks to have her.

I genuinely don't know if there is actually a link to the irritable uterus and early delivery, there are other reasons I was likely to go into premature labour apart from that (just icing on the cake for me). There's not even a lot out there on the Internet about it. That's good the midwife is keeping a close eye, and it's reassuring once you can start feeling movements.

This is a daft thing to say but try not to stress - it doesn't help - and try to take it easy if that's possible with three other kids running around x

its not too bad as they go to school, so i can rest when theyre there. they get themselves dressed feed themselves and go toilet alone so not much running about either aside from school runs.

ive been lucky about the prem labour thing, my contractions seem to stop with rest. i did have steroids at one point as a precaution. i ended up being induced with all 3, dc1 being 10 days overdue and the other 2 cos of no movements. anything can set contractions off- stress, infections, exercise.... they stopped again last night and i feel fine now, but ill mention it to my consultant later as she dealt with me last time.

anxious for it to settle as im due to fly out on hol in 2 months and need to be fit to fly x

Hi, there is no link between irritable uterus and prem delivery. Although obviously prem labour could occur as with any pregnancy.

There were two threads just recently on here, I am on my phone so can't do the links. But worth doing a search for the threads for reassurance that you are not alone.

I had it will my first and my third pregnancies, both went to full term. But I used a tens machine from 33weeks for the pain.

Drink lots and rest as much as possible is my advice.

X-post.
It might be difficult for you to get a fit to fly letter. I was working away from home on my third pregnancy when it started at 33weeks. Doctors were very reluctant for me to fly home. Apart from anything else the change in cabin pressure might trigger contractions. As does walking etc.

I got a fibronectin test to see if I was likely to go into imminent labour, then they have me a letter to say I could fly within the next 24 hours only! And my dh had to fly to me, so he could travel with me back home. Trouble was this coincided with airline strike, so instead I had a very stressful, long distance car journey with dh and ferry journey, during which time I was constantly contracting. We were working out all the nearest hospitals all the way home! Got home and the baby stayed put for another 6 weeks!!!!

If the irritable uterus is due to a UTI you may have it settle down, otherwise you may have to re-think the holiday?
