Morning all
I'm 36 weeks with dc2, dc1 was an assisted delivery with forceps. Started with consultant care due to this but was referred back to midwife led at 13 weeks. Have a consultant appt this pm as baby was breech two weeks ago at midwives, so defaulted to this appt. anyone any idea what to expect? I'm slightly confused as why I've been referred back as surely the midwife could check again this week and send me there if baby was still breech?

Hi, I'm due to have a 36 week appointment with the consultant mine is because I had a EMCS the first time round. This appointment is to discuss my final birth plan, I'm initially trying for a VBAC but if things dont go naturally I will be having a CS again. We will be discussing time scales and when a CS will be performed if I don't go into labour naturally.

Maybe your appointment is also just making a plan if your baby doesn't turn?

Oh maybe, I hadn't thought of that as I'm just assuming it will turn! What sort of time frame do they work in for c sections? Or does it vary?

Its because if the baby's still breech the consultant will counsel you for an ECV. Its to save time. There's a small window of time for best chances of an ECV been successful. If you have to wait another week to see the consultant (they normally do weekly clinics), then wait for an ECV apt you may have missed your best chance.

Obv you don't have to have an ECV. if baby is still breech and you want a lscs you're looking at from 39 weeks onwards.

I'm not sure about an ecv, have seen conflicting info on the Internet and can't decide. I wonder why the midwife didnt tell me any of this, helpful :/

I'd read up what you can on it now and take any questions to ask the consultant. Its your choice.
