Just wondred if any 1 can help me, I'm only 7 week and not seeing my midwife till Wednesday. I'm getting hayfever only on a night time, nose is really stuffy and eyes feel swelled, I looked on the box of hayfever tablets and they said not to take if pg. could wait till wed but would be great to hav something sooner..

My doc told me to take piriton. Which knocked me out.

But, my allergies have completely disappeared since having x2 DCs.

No hay fever and I can sit in my friend's house with her 5 cats all evening without puffing up! Smile

Mine is terrible too!!

I am only just pregnant (not even been to the docs yet) but I know with my last one I could not take antihistamine. It sucks!!

Sure if you went to see your doctor they would be able to advise or talk to a pharmacist and see what they say.

Good luck x

[[http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/935.aspx NHS says loratidine is the preferred anti-histamine in pregnancy. You should really check with a doctor first though

My doc gave me piriton and said its the only one safe in pregnancy x

I have been taking loratidine after checking NHS website as mine is awful and setting off my asthma. Morrison's do it in a yellow box for £1.29 for 14 pills. The only other brand I have found is clarytin st above £5 a box.

It still says on box not to use but my go said that's just a std thing on most meds and not to worry

piriton is a sedating anti-histamine though so could make you drowsy and unable to drive safely. It is normally preferred to use a non-sedating anti-histamine like loratidine or cetirizine first.

Home Bargains, Tesco, Asda, etc all sell the generic tablets much cheaper than the branded equivalents. We got a pack of 14 loratidine for about 80p from Home bargains yesterday as I'd forgotten to order dh's repeat prescription for them!

My GP prescribed piriton for me. It didn't make me especially drowsy, but if you're worried, you can take it at night and use a nasal spray in the day. Pretty sure dr said beconase was ok, but check that when you go.
