Am feeling awful and having to look after ds1 all day. Not just the actual vomiting but also the feeling of nausia all day. Also getting dizzy and faint spells.

Know that loads of you must have felt the same so any advise? PLEASE do not say ginger as it makes me puke and puke and puke!!

Eat small portions and often.
Think about what you could actually eat right now.
For me all I could eat was oranges and drink water until it passed later in the day.

Ice pops are good too. You do need to try something though if your feeling dizzy and faint. You might find it will pass once you've had a little something.

Also ave you tried the sickness bands?

bramblina · 28/05/2006 10:25

Something really stodgy like rich tea biscuits or dry bread. So I've heard, though nothing worked for me. The one thing that worries me about next lo when I'll have ds to look after...good luck.

YellowFeathers · 28/05/2006 10:26

Yes rich tea biscuits are good!

JennyLee · 28/05/2006 10:39

If you get sick in the car or on the bus get nappy sacks...they hold the puke real good!

Rowlers · 28/05/2006 10:40

Boiled sweets helped a little for the dizziness / lightheadedness for me.

I really feel for you hun. Ginger was out for me too so ate packets of rich tea fingers and copious amounts of mushroom soup and dry bread. Also sometimes managed to eat pancakes as they are stodgy. Plain baked potato with nothing on it was quite good too.

Oh, and thinking to myself that it would pass eventually helped. Also, looking after DD seemed to take my mind off it slightly.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks to all. Have been eating rich tea before I get up and they do seem to help a little.

Since not eating is not really helping will def try eating all the time. Prob end up putting on stones all in the name of keeping the sickness at bay!!

crisps, crisps, crisps! I even found eating 2 or 3 (crisps not packets!) before sitting down to a meal made me more able to stomach things. And as others have said try to eat every couple of hours even you really don't feel like it. I sympathise as morning sickness is the most godawful thing ever & doubly so when you already have kids to look after

Mistymoo · 28/05/2006 18:16

Don't get pregnant!!! Grin

That's the only thing that works for me! Sorry if my advice is a bit late.

mazzystar · 28/05/2006 18:25

plenty of low GI carbs - oatcakes, unprocessed cereals etc is the healthy way to do it. but i found that the only thing that made me better in the early days was rice krispies and bacon crisps.

olivo · 28/05/2006 19:18

salt and vinegar discos ....Grin

azroc · 28/05/2006 19:32

Eat little and often - especially fruit and veg (tomatoes!!) I found it was always worst when I was hungry, and once I started feeling bad I didn't want to eat (except possibly tomatoes...)

Tommy · 28/05/2006 19:59

agree with wads - hula hoops worked for me and peanut butter and marmite sandwiches on white bread (this was before I was told I shouldn't eat peanuts when pregnant and also possibly why I put on 3st..... Wink)

blobsmummy · 28/05/2006 20:20

Really feeling for you Dragonhart - I had all day nausea for 16 weeks and it was dreadful.

I go with the rich tea finger biscuits - the only thing I could keep down.

And here's a top tip when you're feeling nauseous - brush your teeth whilst standing up having a shower in the morning. I found putting my head over the basin really made me want to be sick (as well as the act of putting something in my mouth). If you do it whilst in the shower, it doesn't matter whether you dribble and get in a mess by staying upright coz you can wash it off! Smile Hope that helps.

the only thing that has worked for me is drinking coke throughout the day... flat coke is best... helps keep sugar level up so stopped me getting to dizzy too... eat little and often, the less you eat the worse you feel. I so sympathise.. had sickness for 16 weeks with my first and I'm 17 weeks with my second and still get sick days. also, sucking boiled sweets helped... like you ginger did nothing!.. oh and chewing gum... again, dont know why

Ruthiebaby · 28/05/2006 22:37

First time round, nothing worked except time.

This time round, I found that eating loads and never letting myself feel hungry was the only thing that helped. I put on loads of weight, but, anything is better than feeling constantly sick.

Miaou · 28/05/2006 22:52

sucking mints helped me loads with dd1 and dd2. With ds NOTHING helped (the smell of mints made me vomit!) But maybe worth a try?

Nemo1977 · 28/05/2006 22:59

extra strong mints and eating little and often is getting me through 95% of the time at the moment.
You have my sympathies as I have ds [2.7] and dd [5mths] bleughhhhh

eidsvold · 28/05/2006 23:30

i found with no2 i was feeling ill all day - I just had to keep snacking and eating. Found I would feel sick the minute my blood sugar dipped. Ginger did not work for me.

I had a packet of salty dry crackers in my desk and they would tide me over until break times when I was teaching school.

Again - I just had to graze all day rather then big meals 3 times a day.

NotAnOtter · 28/05/2006 23:32

lime cordial and not much else!

bumbleweed · 29/05/2006 22:48

sherbert lemons

skerriesmum · 30/05/2006 00:50

Eat a bowl of cereal or water crackers/plain biscuits just before bed, might stave off the sickness first thing in the morning.
