Help! When should I go??

My lovely lovely mum wants to treat me to a theatre trip for my birthday in August. However by this point I will be 32ish weeks if not further along depending on when we can get tickets. The trip involves travelling on the train (and possibly the tube, but this can be avoided by getting a taxi) in the middle of summer. Would I be bonkers to go?

If not the other option is to go in february, but baby will only be around 4 months old and I will still be BFing hopefully!! Would that be a problem? I have a nightmare image in my head of panicking about leaving baby then leaking boobs etc ruining the day.

I'm completely stuck! Which is the best option? FYI the tickets available in feb are much better ones than August.

Definitely go in your last trimester - it's only going to the theatre is not a major endurance event!

Don't waste those last weeks of being child free thinking that you have to stay in and not do things or over thinking things/ how tired you are going to be. Believe me you will look back at these days and think you didn't realise how lucky you are that you can just go out and be spontaneous - do it whilst you can!

And doing the tube when your preggers is no big deal either, escalators and lifts everywhere and people will offer you a seat.

Def do it before. I'm 36 weeks and have been commuting 2 hours each day on the tube and it's fine. Enjoy!

It was the journey I was most worried about, not sitting on my bum in the theatre hehe. I just know that already I get faint very quickly when in a hot/stuffy room, so was worried about the train and tube when it could be so hot. Janey thanks so much, that's really helpful :)

I went to the theatre 2 days after my due date. It was fine!

I went into London for dinner at 38 weeks. I looked pretty big and didn't see anyone nearly as pregnant. It was pretty tiring but I was glad I did. 32 weeks will be fine. Just go slow and don't over do it.

..and maybe take a cushion!

Thanks so much! This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect as I get further along. I really appreciate the advice!

Hi.
Lovely of your mum. I agree to do as much as possible. Theatre is a rare treat now.

I did quite a few theatre trips late in pregnancy and would advise to be careful to get the right theatre/seats. Some of the older theatres that havent been refurbished can be really squished. I went to the National Theatre at 38 weeks. Sat in back row of back section so I could stretch out and get up (wee breaks) without bothering anyone and that worked well! The leg room there is good but even then i was sat sideways a bit. Website theatremonkey will tell you about best seats for legroom etc. Or pick a show and call theatre to ask about seats.

I had really positive experience travelling for work on train/tube. Always got a seat. Just leave plenty of time so you dont have to rush around in heat.

Enjoy!

Rainbow thanks, that's brilliant advice. I hadnt thought about wee breaks!! I'm already quite a size and I'm only 22 weeks, so I'm pretty sure I'll be the size of a house by then. I wouldn't want to block everyones view while I waddle out!! Either that or end up crushing some poor person to death if I fell in their lap!

I think we are going to piccadilly theatre so I will check out if it's a new or old one and about the seats etc. Thanks again!
