Vision problems - eyesight been blurry and unable to focus for past 3 weeks

Hi, has anyone else had this problem, I know visual disturbances can be linked to pregnancy. I should be 13 weeks pregnant (although scan is just showing sac and pregnancy hasn't progressed for a month so probably miscarrying as bleeding) Sorry have posted another thread on this as it is a separate worry to my eyesight problem.
For the last 3 weeks now I have been finding it almost impossible to read or use the computer (struggling now, thank goodness for zoom in screens) or do anything that involves looking at things close up. My vision is constantly blurry and patchy and I have floaters and things in my vision are bouncing around. My blood pressure is fine and also it looks as though my pregnancy is terminating itself but there has been no change in my vision. I have been checked out by an optician and my prescription has not changed. Am really really worried as it is stopping me from doing an awful lot and I am scared my vision may not return to normal. It may be nothing to do with the pregnancy hormones but I have read that it can be. The doctor does not seem to be very concerned but I am freaking out. Anyone had similar problems?

With my first pregnancy I had something similar. Problems with my eyesight and first they couldn't find out what it was.

The strength of my eyes were the same. But another test found out that my eye muscles were weakened by my pregnancy hormones. This made it more difficult to see depth.

It felt for me like my eyesight was getting worse. But tests said my eyes were fine.

A special test was being done. A test to see if I can see depth. Then they found out the problem.

This was done in Holland (where I come from) and I don't know if an optician over here does these tests or that you need to ask your GP for to be send to a specialist for to get this eye test.

Maybe best to go first to an optician and ask them if they do other tests then just checking the strength of your eyes.
It might be depth, it might be another problem with your eyes.

If they don't then go for another appointment with your GP and say you want someone to have a good look at your eyes, because something is defiantly not right with them.

take care,
Sylvia

Thanks Sylvia, yeah the optician mentioned something about the eye muscles not seeming to be pulling eyes into focus properly but my GP does not seem to be concerned. Thank you for your message. x

Sylvia, did your eyes get better on their own after pregnancy or not?

I had this in my first pg. It was terrifying, especially driving, but also frustrating as many of the things I enjoy require close vision, sewing, reading etc. As things went on it did improve and like you the optician and gp both said it was the hormones affecting the eye muscles. Nothing to do but wait it out. Once DD was born it improved and I went for an eye test about 6 months later, my prescription had actually become smaller lol!

This pg I haven't had the same issues but I am also better at dealing with eye complaints as I developed atypical migraines as a response to the hormones, so I get the swimmy eyes and aura of migraine without the headache. Believe it or not 2 chocolate biscuits have solved it within 30 mins every time. Not that I'm suggesting you need an excuse to eat biscuits but why not see. It might not be the same thing but I was convinced I was going mad over it.

Sorry to hear that things are in a scary place right now, hoping you get some resolution of it all soon. Best of luck x

I've always had glasses, since I was a child. My eyes went back to my normal after the pregnancy. But it did took a couple of weeks before that happened.

I got some new glasses and contact lenses during my first pregnancy and went back to my old once after the pregnancy.
