Morning all Smile

I'm 15 weeks pregnant with my first baby and so far all is good Smile. Had a scan at 12+6 and all was great plus mw listened for hb at 14 and 15 weeks and found it really quickly nice and clear so all still ok. I've had extra apps due to early onset pgp

However, I'm currently sat in a manchester train station waiting for the 2nd of 3 trains I need to catch today as I am going to a conference overnight for work. I'm being careful, have seats booked and a bag on wheels so I'm not lifting but first train was quite bumpy and I'm a bit worried about my baby being ok Sad

Someone tell me I'm being neurotic and my baby will still be fine when I see mw again next week?!

Aargh never worried so much before I got pg!! X

you are being neurotic!

Badgerwife · 05/06/2013 10:25

Oh dear... I'm afraid you are being neurotic Blush. Your baby is well padded in your uterus what with all the water and the placenta and everything. There is no risk whatsoever.

I fell down the stairs at 15 weeks so if a bumpy train can damage a baby goodness knows what I've done to mine!

I am 37 weeks and all is well. Relax, there is lots of padding in there. Grin

Ah the baby will be fine don't worry, plenty of padding in your belly.

I don't know what the employment law says about pregnant women in the UK but here where I live they are particularly strict and you cannot work more than 9 hours a day and any later than 8pm (or 10pm for nurses, restaurant workers etc) so this pretty much ruled out any trips for me and I was glad of it really as travelling for work is exhausting and if anything had happened due to stress from a work trip I would have been furious.

I think you are being a bit neurotic! Obviously if you feel unwell or particularly tired you will need to discuss whether or not you can do a similar trip again - your work should have done a health and safety risk assessment but I don't think there is any risk associated with staying away from home or train travel.

Tbh I am at the end of my 3rd pregnancy and have just carried on as normal pretty much with all 3 of them in terms of work and day to day life - I have felt very tired at times but I think that is just life really (especially when you have 1 or 2 other DC to look after).

I wouldn't worry if you have to stand on a train at 15 weeks either - I used to stand when commuting at that stage and quite far beyond and there isn't a risk, it can just be more tiring. It is harder at the end of pregnancy where ankles swell etc hence long periods of standing being more difficult to manage.

I carried on in my highly physical and demanding job for several weeks before telling my bosses. And even now partake in physical activity everyday im at work. My partner stresses if i carry a backpack but our bodies are so much more resilient than people like to make out. My midwife told me at my scan 'your pregnant, not ill'
I think we just turn into crazy pregnant ladies dont we! I do all the phys i like , but when it comes to bed time, think im going to roll over and squash my 'plum' sized baby!

Thanks for all your input :-) I made it to the conference ok and I'm now awaiting my first train back Smile

I know really I was panicking unnecessarily - I had to lift my bag a couple of times but its really not that heavy!

I've been careful and I'm sure it will be fine :-) x

On another note it has left me exhausted! But was a good conference!
