Hello.
I have just found out I am approximately 5 weeks pregnant.I am a staff nurse on a busy trauma ward.
I am not keen on telling my manager I am pregnant until our families know after first scan.
When did others tell their managers and did it bother you that your work team knew before you family?
Thanks in advance.

In that environment, I think you'd be wise to tell your manager, in confidence, as soon as you are able. I had to do the same when I worked in NICU - too many risks (heavy incubators, nitrous oxide, high temperatures, infections, etc.) not to let them know so that they could modify risks for me.

I told at 8 weeks when I was working a busy shift and felt like crap (UTI!). We told our close family early on with the condition that we kept it in the family and only told those I had to at work.

I agree with lougle, I think you should tell your boss given the environment. You can do it confidentially.
