Pregnancy after section

Our youngest is 15 weeks old and our twins are 15 months. The twins were born naturally but youngest was by section ( elective but for medical reasons)

We have been told by a friend that we must wait at lease 18 months before trying for another. Is that correct?

We are not going for No 4 just yet, but want to be prepared and if it isn't safe we want to be safe.

Thanks

I had a section in March last year and got pregnant when DC was 11 months. The midwives and doctors have had no problems at all with me being pg again and I am being encouraged to consider VBAC so don't think there is anything to worry about as long as you have healed well.

Thanks. We both said we would wait 18 months before trying again but I think we would both really like to get going again lol

I got pregnant 10m after 1 st section and 14m after 2nd section.

I think the general advise is too wait 1 year. In the early weeks of my second pregnancy my scar was really uncomfortable, sometimes painful from the stretching...I waited 2 years.

I think it's best to let your body heal as its quite a major op x

My consultant told me at my 6 week check to wait for another 8 months before getting pregnant again, after my (elective) section

The advice is to wait a year before giving birth so you could ttc now if you wished too.

I fell pregnant 4 months after my first c-section.
We weren't trying to get pregnant though & there is 11 months & 2 weeks between both babies.
I then fell pregnant 9 months after that one too.
I had no problems with my scar or anything like that.
I'm not advising such a short time between pregnancies though but just wanted to say that mine were ok.

After my second section I was advised to wait 2 years if I wanted another. Think it had more to do with them knowing I would have preferred a vaginal birth.

Definitely wait! I conceived 4 weeks after my 2nd csec and had placenta accreta. It was touch and go for the baby,I was told so many times she probably wouldn't make it. I was in hospital twice with premature labour it was terrible. The uterus lining was thinning with every week and they had to get her 4 weeks early because my scar was beginning to come apart.

The fresh car tissue and the uterus simply grew together. It was a nightmare but all good now, my 3rd baby is a happy, healthy strapping 20 month old.

It takes about a year fr the scar to heal. With a csec the scar you have inside is higher up and bigger than what you see outside.

I tried for a vbac with my second but you really should take yourself to hospital early and be monitored because scar tissue does not behave like normal tissue. It cannot stretch.

I then felt slicing pins running don my thighs and the experienced nurse arranged for an immediate csec, luckily I was already on a drip and prepped. I was in surgery ithin less than 15 mins and it turned out my first elective csec 2 years ago was already coming apart, the uterus so thin they could see every bit of the baby underneath it.

I don't mean to put anyone off a vbac but i do think one should be monitored more closely.
