Hair removal at 39 weeks, HOW?

So i am ok with my under arms and my legs are just about manageable with a lot of effort but my bikini area is impossible to reach! I also have some pretty mean stretch marks around that region that are a bit sore (i didn't think it was possible!) but i would like to remove the hair as i feel it will be more comfortable after labour, any ideas? or have any of you just left it down there and it made no difference?

I know that for lots of women this is a big issue, but I have a confession to make .... I never de-haired that area to begin with! I guess it's because I met my DP when I was quite young and it just wasn't an issue back in the (pre-internet?) day. So I've never done it unless it's bikini season (and more recently have found tankinis cover a multitude of sins ....)

Anyway. Just to reassure you that no healthcare professional - doctor, nurse, midwife, student - has ever batted an eyelid. So don't worry about it for that reason.

strikeout fail

I used an electric trimmer to keep hair 'down there' short during pregnancy.. Wouldn't have waxed or shaved, as others have said the last thing you want if you've had stitches is itchy regrowth!

Honestly I think trimming is the way to go if it bothers you. I've been fine until now 37 weeks and its all becoming more difficult. I may just surrender to the hairy Mary lookWinkGrin

For those of you that are first timers and have a vaginal birth you will be at the very best bruised for a few weeks after birth. Anything that can cause additional irritation should be avoided at all costs!

The thought of stitches, bruising and healing tightness/itching plus re growth isn't for me.

I am so glad someone has posted this.
I am 38 weeks now and tbh cannot get near it... it is a jungle and hideous but everytime I attempt it I resemble a tortoise stuck on it's back.

I also can't shave my legs very well at all and they are patchy at best, this was fine given the snow and rain this spring but it is starting to get hot now and honestly the yeti look is seriously unattractive, particularly when combined with being the size of a blimp.

I think trimming is the way forward at this late stage of the game!

This is a total nightmare for me as I'm quite hirsute at the best of times and have to stay on top of bikini line a couple of times a week at least.

At 33 weeks, I can no longer see pubic mound (unless I look in a mirror) so have been shaving that area by feel. With the warmer temps and general distortion of that area, it's been getting more and more uncomfortable but I'm not willing to let it go just yet (if for no other reason than I'd like to have sex at least twice more before baby comes and DP is put off as it is).

One thing I'd say re waxing is to be very careful - with the extra hormones, extra bloodflow downstairs etc, it is much easier to get infected/in-grown hairs etc in pregnancy. The last thing you want is a perianal abscess.
