Pelvic Pain

I'm 13 weeks pregnant with DC2, have been having intermittent pelvic pain since about week 10. My whole groin and inner thighs feel swollen. I had noticed became worse after certain activities such as mopping, sweeping but last two days has been constant. Going up stairs takes an eternity, can barely get out of car and I'm waddling around like a pregnant hippo.
What is this? I sailed through first pregnancy! Do I need to call midwife / GP on Monday?
Oh I have piles Blush

Lots of sympathy to you, I have Pelvic Girdle Pain and it is awful. Try to get referred to Physio as soon as possible - so if you don't have an appointment anytime soon it would be worth phoning the Midwife to get the ball rolling. Mine was brilliant, she couldn't magic the pain away but was very knowledgeable. She recommended one of these but only after establishing my pain lessened when she was pressing my hips together.

I'm sure some people will be along with tips, and there is a support thread on the pregnancy board. For me though a wheat pack would ease it a little, and I tried not to stay in one position too long as getting mobile after that was agony. I found lots of active work meant I suffered more the next day so it's something to bear in mind. A pillow between your knees in bed works well, and if it hurts to turn over in bed try 'turning under' instead.

Thankfully mine has eased a little of late. It is constant at the front around my pubic bone like a bruised feeling which increases as the day goes on but the pain in my bum cheeks has eased a bit.

Yes, definitely sounds like Pelvic Girdle Pain. I've had a mild case of it since 16 weeks (now 28). I can just about manage it in the daytime but by the evening is agony.

The pillow between the legs is a good tip I find and I'm also going to try the turning 'under' in bed as opposed to turning 'over'. The latter is agonising!!

Just ordered a Dream Genii pillow to help as well.

Thanks for the replies, and the advice. Wheat pack and pregnancy pillow on order! I have a physically active job, and have been off for the half term this last week - back tomorrow and dreading it. I'll be giving the midwife a ring to discuss as haven't an appointment for 3/4 weeks.
