Im about to try and have a vbac after my c-section 12 years ago. The reason Im trying vbac rather than c-section is I clotted after last c-section and missed out on 1st 2 months of my daughters life due to being in hospital. read some horror stories, please let me know of your experience good or bad

Bump
I'm also in the VBAC vs ELCS dilemma so will await some responses.

I've had two successful vbacs after an emcs with ds1. Great experiences both of them and a million times easier recovery than the cs. I'm fully anticipating another vbac with dc4, all being well with this pregnancy.

I think success depends largely on your reasons for an emcs - I was fully dilated, but ds1 was back to back and got stuck, resulting in major foetal distress. I was much more active and upright in the run-up to and during labours 2 and 3, which I'm convinced helped. I was also open-minded about things going wrong and better prepared mentally, probably because of my first experience.

12 years sounds like a pretty decent amount of time to let your body recover too, so good luck!

Easy, quick, drug, free VBAC here for DC2, after DC1 was 14+ days overdue, induction, 2 day labour, full dilation, pushing for 2 hours ending in an EMCS.

Amazing experience with DC2. Fairly grim one with DC1 Sad

My top VBAC tips:
Read Ina May Gaskin Guide to Childbirth
Get the natal hypnotherapy CDs for VBAC preparation. Maggie Mongan.

All that aside, DC1 was always going to be a c section as it turned out he was in a bad position. You can't make a VBAC happen by good thoughts alone, but you can make yourself as calm and positive as possible about attempting one.

Good luck. Smile

I have had a vbac after emcs as well. Same as sleepthief I did get fully dilated, but DS had a peek and decided he didn't want to come any further out! Hmm

My vbac was fine except needed suction help for DD, but she was a big baby which probably contributed to that. However I had no problems regarding it being a vbac and am intending to do the same with number 3 in a couple of months.

i had emcs with ds1 only managed to dilate to 5cm and h/r dropped too much, then 10.5 months later gave birth vbac, i found vbac better as you can do things almost straight away, also as i had a 10 month old he still needed picking up ect so i was able to do that still. iv had 3 vbacs and 2 of them were straight forward but my last was more difficult as he was back to back and his heart rate kept dropping with contractions but managed to get him here safe and well, i am opting for c-sec this time round but only because my labours have been 2 hours or less and id like it to be a little more planned this time round.

thanks for all your replies, makes me feel more confident about the whole idea. the thought of another c-section with what went wrong for me last time scares the life out of me. thanks again to you all xx
