Head engaging

every so often I feel an intense pressure kind of in between my legs at the front, it feels really heavy. Is this baby's head engaging for a time and then un engaging? Also, last check she was breech, can a breech baby engage or will she most likely have turned? I am 35 weeks btw

Could be braxton hicks. I experience them as a tightening of my bump with quite a lot of pressure in between my legs around the pubic bone. It usually fades away after 10-20 seconds.

Aah, maybe thats what it is then. I have been getting a lot of bh and they dont always feel like that. I am pretty convinced that she is still breech so prob not engaging then!

It's possible baby's head is engaging and then moving away. I got the same thing and could distinctly feel it hitting my pelvic bone but when the midwife checked the head was in the right place but not yet engaged. That's especially true at 35 weeks! Then at 36+5 earlier this week the mw confirmed the head is now engaged; it's that sort of time. Quite painful though, I don't know about you but it makes me waddle like a proper penguin!

My son was breech and I was told he was 3/5 engaged at about 34 weeks! MWs also told me that they could feel his 'head' when I was 41+2 and in for my second sweep. They didn't know he was breech Grin but we found out not long after.

So in answer to your question - they can certainly wedge their bottoms in your pelvis and give a good impression of engaging!

It seems to happen when i am driving. Maybe its the position i am in that allows her to drop down a bit. Dont think it is bh now coz the top part of my bump is soft. Really hope its not her bum engaging! little did you deliver breech then or need a section? I have a mw appointment next week but she hasnt been great at assessing the position so far, its only because i have 4 weekly scans that i know she was breech.

hi rhubarb - no, I had a planned c-section at ten days over. I'd said throughout my pg that I thought he was breech but was ignored by everyone and told everything above. It was only at 9 days over I mentioned again the lack of kicking above by belly button that the MW I saw decided to check.

They then booked me in the next day. It was all really straightforward and relatively hassle-free TBH. An ELCS is a completely different experience to an emergency one so don't be afraid if that's what they're suggesting. I am opting for VBAC this time as everything seems to be 'normal' but wouldn't be sad if I needed another section TBH.

Tbh i am more worried about delivering breech! No one seems too concerned yet, i have another scan in a couple of weeks so will see if she has turned or not by then. Obviously i would prefer to deliver naturally but the welfare of the baby is paramount so a section doesnt worry me too much if that is what is needed. Good luck with your vbac, hope this baby stays the right way up. My ds was cephalic from 20 weeks so i am a bit worried that this one wont turn
