Hiya
I have 2 Dc already and with both I went from 10.10 to 13.9st ie put on exactly 3st.

After DC2 (awful pregnancy) got post partum thyroid problem i still have 18m later.

I'm under excellent endo private care and managed to get weight down to 11.4 & hopefully back to 10.13 when start trying about sept.

Just wondered if anyone gained massive extra amounts of weight with thyroid problem being controlled in pregnancy? Suddenly occurred to me and googling I could end up much bigger at the end like 15/16st or whatever.

I take loads of vitamin d, magnesium & frolic acid & I'm on 75mcg per day.

Thanks if you can comment Smile

no reason you should gain extra weight if your condition is under control - most women simply need an increased dose of thyroxine.

I've had a thyroidectomy. When I got pregnant, the dose was increased from 125 to 150 and my weight gain is nicely within recommended limits.

totally agree with hazlenut ive been taking Thyroxine for over 10 years, increased from 150 to 200 when BFP. weight gain well within recomended limits. (32 weeks)
Make sure you don't take thyroxin at same time as folic and vit's as it can effect the way thyroxin is absorbed.
make sure you get regular blood tests.

This is my second pregnancy, I have had underactive thyroid since I was a child. During my first pregnancy I never put on alot of weight, infact after I gave birth was the time I have been at my slimest. I am only around 14 weeks pg now and lost a bit weight with nausea at first but am only now the weight I was before I was pregnant. Will be interesting to see how it goes tis time being a bit oleder and it being my second pregnancy.

I have not had my dose ut up yet which is worrying my but I am going back on monday to have my levels checked again.

Did all your babies measure average sizes on dating scan? Mine seems to be about a week out and I wondered if it's anything to do with the thyroid issue.

i'm underactive and taking 125mg thyroxin currently - this has been bumped up from 50mg when I got pg. My weight gain has been signficantly below average so far - about 5 kg at 7 months. My baby on the last scan was measuring slightly ahead - but I'm a tall girl and was told "tall ladies have long babies". As long as you're taking the right amount of thyroxin try not to worry.

Thanks very much for all your experiences Grin
Easy to panic when see people can put on loads of weight have hormonal issues and have premature babies Etc.. Can this happen when we'll controlled and reg blood tests or is this when pregnant ladies are kind of left and not monitored?!

City girl, lots of people put on lots of weight, are hormonal and have prem baby's. That's just pregnancy!! Please ddon't worry about thyroid. Just keep it managed and enjoy being pregnant! Xx

Underactive here too... upped from 150mcg before bfp to 200mcg. As others have said, keep making sure you get regular blood tests and just enjoy your pregnancy.

I was monitored closely due to underactive thyroid. Should be fine as long as you get regular blood tests and take the right dose. Some people do gain more in pregnancy. I put on 3 stone but lost 2.5 during labour. DD was 15 days late and weighed in at 9.15!
