The amount of people who keep telling me off for driving my car is ridiculous! Im currently 39+3 and aside from waddling the odd few metres around the supermarket im pretty much immobile because I'm so uncomfortable! How the hell do people suppose I get around? Why are people making such a big deal out of this? Yes there are dangers with the seatbelt if I crash but my chances of crashing are the same as before? Aren't they? If anything I drive more cautiously and give even more room to the car in front so I dont have to break harshly if needs be. Any ideas why people are telling me off?

Have you asked them why are they telling you off?

I asked one and she said she doesn't know why, just that you aren't allowed to drive 3 weeks before your due date!

I couldn't drive past about 37 weeks with DS, but that was because I couldn't turn around to back anymore which meant I couldn't get in and out of my driveway Grin

And because of that, it didn't feel safe. But, if my bump had sat differently, it would have been fine. Which it obviously is for you.

Some car insurers stipulate a limit on the number of weeks you can drive. It's worth checking your policy.

Mine's fine but 2 women in my antenatal group checked theirs and "had" to stop at 37 weeks (or something).

My problem was I couldn't fit my bump behind the steering wheel and if I pushed the seat back, I couldn't see over the dashboard (shortarse)

at least you've only been banned for your last 3 weeks, my mum and dp have banned me, think I was about 34 weeks, we have a mini cooper, I could still fit perfectly fine, mum said it was because my car is small and if I had a 4x4 she'd feel safer, my mini has a better accident rating than her car, put the no driving with a huge baby and pgp im housebound and it's shit! im so bored and want this baby to hurry up already!

If I had to stop driving at 37 weeks getting to my midwife appointments in the last month would have been a pain in the arse. I drove at 39 weeks and felt perfectly safe about it. I guess you could have one of those incidents like in the movies where your waters suddenly break with no prior warning whilst you are behind the wheel?
