Likely to turn?

Although I will probably have a section as needs to be induced at 38 weeks for other reasons. I'm fine about having a section - just wondering if baby will turn..

15% of babies are breech at 32 weeks compared to 4% at term so you have an 11% chance s/he'll turn. www.spinningbabies.com has good advice on encouraging them to turn, but if you're headed for a section anyway i'm not sure why you're bothered?

Just the placenta and waters breaking issues really, my understanding is it's then more of an emergency if breech?

My baby was breech at 32 weeks - I was given all sorts of advice about moxibustion, different positions to try, etc, I couldn't be bothered to do anything and she turned all by herself in time for 36 week scan. Also, not sure it would be an emergency if breech - I was told that if she didn't turn (by herself or with ECV) I should consider a c-section, which would be planned for 39 weeks.

Good luck!

15% to 4% means that you have an over 70% chance that the baby will have turned by term, so don't stress too much.

I'm 31 weeks and not head down yet. Saw midwife and she's not at all concerned.

I 34 weeks and baby is still breech, my consultant is not concerned at all and just said she has plenty of time to turn so dont worry. It is a good idea to have a think about what might happen if baby stays breech but dont worry too much, he/she will most likely turn

I'm in the same boat too... (Hi Jolly!) 32 weeks today and Baby is as fond of being transverse as s/he has been throughout... occasionally flirts with upright in one direction or another, but always goes sideways at night. The full stretch aerobics sessions leave no doubt!

I'm seeing the midwife on Wednesday and will see what she says... but I'm not massively worried at the moment. Sending turny thoughts to all concerned!

Hi Jolly & Brave. At 31 weeks here and my little one not head down yet either. Strange we should all be in that 15%, but also not too concerned here. As noted above odds are still quite good they'll sort themselves out before birth.

BraveLilBear · 29/05/2013 16:39

Hi HJBeans et al ... just got back from 32 week appt where midwife thinks baby is head down-ish. But she then added - 'but it really doesn't matter til 36 weeks anyway...'

So there is hope for all of us! (Including me, as I know junior will flip sideways when I get home tonight as it does every night lol!)

just wondering why you need to be induced at 38 weeks? Just cos I'm nosy like that...

ds1 was breech (born 39+4) and so was dts2 (born 37+3) was also breech. Both born vaginally one more risky than other was supposed to have CS for dts2 but things didn't go as planned! Haha.
