Am craving all banned foods so much, I've composed my pst pregnancy banquet:

Pâté with crusty bread for starters

Sushi lots and lots of raw sashimi and shellfish for mains with champagne

A whippy ice cream for desert as my midwife told me to avoid soft ice cream van ice crea, in pregnancy. With a flake and sprinkles.

Anyone care to add there's?

I want pate on a fresh tiger tail with cucumber and chutney followed by scones with jam and clotted cream. I know hardley any of that is banned food but thats just what I fancy !

AuntPittypat · 16/04/2013 18:29

I planned to pack a box of camembert in my hospital bag as I'd missed it so much. Luckily for all the other ladies on the post natal ward, I forgot to grab it from the fridge before leaving home. The ward was so hot I hate to think how stinky it would have been!

Fairydogmother · 16/04/2013 19:02

O now I just want a freezing cold larios gin and tonic followed by champagne lol

This thread is TORTURE!

littleomar · 16/04/2013 19:05

Ice cold manzanilla sherry
Ham
Filthy stinking blue cheese

MammaBrussels · 16/04/2013 19:12

Mainly cheese - Stilton, Chèvre, Blacksticks Blue, Camembert, lightly poached egg ( no Red Lion stamp over here), G&T, Belgian beer.

HotSoupDumpling · 16/04/2013 19:22

Starter: salmon sashimi
Main: salmon sashimi
Dessert: salmon sashimi

HotSoupDumpling · 16/04/2013 19:22

Snacklet: jamon iberico de bellota and a tortilla that is wet in the middle.

IcingOnTheNappyCake · 16/04/2013 19:22

The biggest rare steak I can find, and a runny egg.. oh dear, I think about this being the result of the birth more than the baby, is that bad? Wink

Andcake · 16/04/2013 19:31

I had a huge Brie sandwich a few hours afterwards fetched by DP - it was delicious.

Then in the next few weeks oven baked Camembert became a staple as v easy to just dip things in as one is sat (struggling to) breast feed or holding an unputdownable baby. One of my fondest memories of the first week is DP, baby cake and I sat together on the da with DP dunking French bread in warm gooey Camembert and feeding me! It felt like 9 months of runny in one week :-)

racmun · 16/04/2013 19:37

After ds1 was born I had:-

Prawns with chilli and garlic

Medium rare chateaubriand

Cheese board with lots of veiny and soft cheeses

Lots of wine

I loved every mouthful.

Am pregnant again so will have a similar feast this time round.

Fairydogmother · 16/04/2013 19:42

Oooo manzanilla.....

ananikifo · 16/04/2013 19:47

Baby's due near the end of October, so I'm looking forward to cheeseboards and pâté at holiday parties. I don't have steak often, but I will find a rare steak to have after the baby's born! I'm not really bothered about alcohol and dont like runny egg yolks, so luckily those aren't tempting me at them moment. I am, however, a bit annoyed at 4od playing do many Brie ads during the catchup episodes of OBEM!

CautionaryWhale · 16/04/2013 19:53

Ooh that's easy as I have gestational diabetes
My feast will be....Death by Chocolate Grin

My other half will be told to bring a big crusty white baguette with pate brie camembert and grapes.
And a big feck off slice of chocolate cake
And a bottle of alc-free shandy
And a bag of salt and vinegar crisps

All mine mine mine Grin

LittlePickleHead · 16/04/2013 20:29

Pâté, blue smelly cheese and baked Camembert, oysters and lots of very nice wine. Only 12 days to go - wonder if DH will be able to bring me in a hamper to the hospital?

Springforward · 16/04/2013 20:57

A pint of proper ale, with a liver and bacon casserole!

Is it ok to admit I have ignored the runny egg advice this time?

FoofFighter · 16/04/2013 20:57

Blue cheese is fine (not soft though) baked camembert is fine.

steakchipsandfriedeggs · 16/04/2013 20:57

Blue steak, preferably still mooing, dippy fried eggs and chips (my name might give away how much I've been obsessing about this) and a glass or three of red wine!

GirlOutNumbered · 16/04/2013 21:04

I have had TWO dairy intolerant children, so after giving birth have had to give up MORE things. I am currently eating jelly and looking longingly at the cheese and biscuits my folks are having. :0(

LittlePickleHead · 16/04/2013 21:04

Food - I'm talking Roquefort, Gorgonzola that type of thing which I think is not fine? I've had Stilton whilst being Preggo (was soooo happy when I realised that it was ok at Christmas!). Didn't realise camembert was ok, though prob not a bad thing I haven't indulged in that too much...

SeriousStuff · 16/04/2013 22:54

Pate, brie, sushi, mango rum, a nice bottle of ale, a whole chorizo, a Henrick's martini, raw steak and lamb...

Did I read right, is smoked salmon ok?! I have turned it down so many times over the last 3 months!

ananikifo · 16/04/2013 22:55

Smoked salmon is ok in the UK, as is chorizo. Smile

LittleMonster100 · 17/04/2013 13:29

can I ask - how comes smoked salmon is okay? it's not cooked and i thought you could only eat fish that was throughly cooked and not smoked? with sushi i know the guildenes are if it's flash frozen it's probably fine.

Thanks!

I've been eating smoked salmon like it's going out of fashion this pregnancy. Then I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that it was 'banned' and had a massive panic that I'd deformed my baby.

So relieved to find out that whatever I read was tosh!

My baby is due in June... what an excellent time of year to enable me to enjoy cold white wine in the sun Grin... except for the small matter of BFing.

SeriousStuff · 17/04/2013 15:50

And forgot...a large latte with an extra shot!

I abstained from caffeine completely for the first 12 weeks, but now back on cups of tea. Will happily wait for my coffee though...however, DH grinding coffee beans in the morning sets my sense going like nothing else!

FoofFighter · 17/04/2013 17:12

because it's smoked, the heat from the smoke essentially cooks it. Clearly says on the NHS website it is ok.
