Nuchal fold/MSS dilemma

Hi all

Sorry if there has been a similar thread as I think there has been lately, but just had some additional questions.

I'm 35 (be 36 when I deliver) and have 2 other children. Got a really good nuchal fold result at 12ish weeks - 1 in 1600, but my MSS has come back 1 in 132. I felt a bit rushed as an appt was made the day after I heard the news to discuss with consultant with view to poss amnio. I've had 2 m/cs in the past. Rang RVI where I had nuchal and they said if I was under their care (am under local hossie) they would have me back now I'm almost 19 weeks and look for other markers. On that basis I didn't attend the appt with the consultant. Has anyone else gone down this route? How reliable will a second scan be at this stage?
Which is more reliable - N fold or MSS - m/wifes say I shouldn't have had both, but I thought they needed it for other things.

Help.....have had worrying weekend.

Hello and lots of thanks for all your msgs of support - I have been a bit ill (chest infection) and then on strike with the AUT (militant!!)

Anyway, the scan went well. I asked him to specifically look for markers - he said that of course it didn't rule out DS (kept saying it in fact, which I understand) but he didn't see anything - no major heart probs anyway or growth problems. He said on that basis, even though it didn't change much, he would put my odds up to say 1 in 200 -250 from the MSS 1:134 So, I'm still happy to leave things as they are - I won't be having the amnio and its all really eased my mind. I know there are no guarantees, but that awful threat has been lifted...........thanks again guys and we'll see what June brings. I'm very grateful to you all.

(Oh and it probably is a girl, hence the awful sickness/hangover feeling which persists.....)

Lazyeye, thanks for the update. Hope you are fully recovered from the chest infection and wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy and beyond.

Glad you finally got some good news. Hope you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy (as much as you ever can with the sleepless nights, aching boobs and bump, varicose veins etc etc ) - roll on June!

Just re-read my post and when I said "awful threat" meant the threat of amnio etc, not DS. The idea of the amnio really filled me with dread, so am so plsd have made decision not to go for it.........
