Avoid nuts as excema is basically an allergy to something. I will not be eating nuts next time as they can cross the placenta and then can make antibodies so when the child has nuts for the first time outside of womb can be bad. Sorry maybe not the best explaination.

be careful with weaning and breastfeeding exclusively for a long as possible.

There are lots of things that can be to minimise allergies after, if you would like more info cat me, dont so much info on this as i come from a very allergic family.

lexiemum, sorry im not really convinced. did'nt do anything different in my last two pregnancies, one child is covered in excema, the other has lovely skin. also, my ds2 was exclusively bf and was still covered in excema! i think its in the genetics, unfortunately, the two with dryer, flakier skin take after me! i have found some cream though, its called AVEENO. i seems to work quite well, you might want to mention it to you friend.Smile

I agree with bubblepop, the gene for eczema is definitely something you inherit. About 50% of my mother's family have it, and I had bad eczema as a child despite being breastfed for 9 months. I keep mine under control now through diet, but whether you get it in the first place is down to your genetic inheritance.
