I've seen other women mention OC when really itchy? I'm feeling prickly - all over - how do I know whether its serious or just one of those pregnancy thingsn

I'm not itching on soles of feet or palms of hands! I did use a new shower gel earlier - but I never normally get allergies

maybe its that? i have had so many reactions to creams and bath soaps iv been using my whole life.
id mention it to your midwife just to make sure.
I found bio oil (despite the price) stops me itching Smile

I developed oc at 34 weeks (am now 37), the itching started on my belly which didn't worry me but went to the doctors when it spread to my hands and feet, the only way to get diagnosed is by a blood test. Don't panic though, itching is really common, I would just request a blood test if it's praying on your mind, my itching has never been that bad (you hear of people using wire brushes to scratch with!) so it's worth checking out if the itching persists so they can get you treatment ASAP. Even if they can just prescribe you some menthol aqueous cream, I used bio oil up to the oc and then it made it worse and drove me nuts!

Good luck.

Could be PUPPPS, worth looking it up, made my life hell and was eventually induced at 36 weeks.

hi, like pp above, I had PUPPP and it was horrible, frantic compulsive itching. its identifiable from tiny spots, rashlike, appearing on stretchmarks. I was about 32 wks when I got it n went 10 days over but thankfully doctor prescribed a steroid cream which helped. nothing over the counter will do anything, including calamine lotion.

at the same time, I had a terrible itch on my legs, nothing visable, but compulsive too. turned out to be what midwife called a hormonal allergy, piriton did the job but had to take it till 3 or 4 days postpartum. all in all I was an itchy critter, but if either of those sound like you, it might help a bit!

good luck cos its a horrible feeling, worse than just normal stretching...
