Bit of a long shot but has anyone here got / had an iCandy stroller. Saw them in John Lewis but wanted some real reviews about them?

Thanks :)

I have an icandy apple. I love it. I got it second hand. Just has the stroller bit.

It's a bit heavy but I honestly love it, it's great that it is parent facing which is why I got it.

A good friend of mine had an iCandy and the whole chassis snapped in half when her DS was 9 months old (thankfully he wasn't in it at the time). Neither the shop she bought it from nor the company gave a shiny shite, in the end she took it apart and sold the pieces that still worked individually as spares on ebay to recoup some of the cost.

I don't know anyone else who's had one, although I know a lot of Bugaboo owners and they all seem happy. If I had my time again (already got a hyooge travel system and a pushchair so don't need to buy any more) I would buy a Bugaboo!

toddlerama · 24/03/2013 13:13

I had an I candy cherry. It was great but not as good as my bugaboo. Both very big and don't fold up small.

MissHinky · 24/03/2013 13:13

Thanks for the quick feedback.

I originally went to look at a Maxi Cosi but they didn't have anything other then car seats which is when the iCandy took my eye.

Not good news about the chassis snapping after 9 months though.

Not yet had baby but the first pushchair I liked was the icandy peach jogger.
Where are you? If anywhere near north west then I recommend a trip to winstanleys pram world near wigan. Have never seen so many prams!
I've actually ended up with a maxi cosi mura 3! The icandy did seem more solid and definitely prettier looking...
Echoing the others the pushchair section here is great and there are some good links to review sites.

I have an icandy peach2. I love it. It's sturdy, light, really easy to manoeuvre, large shopping basket, folds up neatly and looks great :) I have it in black magic. The maxi cosi cabriofix car seat fits onto it with adapters.

DS has just grown out of the carrycot, which was comfy and cosy through winter. He is now in the pushchair seat with fleecy cosy toes and he's really happy in it.

TheTiger · 24/03/2013 13:35

Oh, and if you are near manchester then you should definitely take a trip to Lester's nursery world!

Whyriskit · 24/03/2013 13:37

I had an iCandy cherry for DS1 who is now 5. I liked it but there was a problem with the wheelbase and it was repaired free of charge. When I was using it for DS2 there was another problem with the chassis which was going to cost quite a lot to get fixed.
I paid a lot for it and had expected it to last a lot longer than the couple of years I got out of it. Now expecting DC3 and will get the chassis fixed!

BluddyNora · 24/03/2013 15:02

I've got the peach blossom and I loathe it. Can't wait till I no longer need a double and I can sell it & get another quinny.

helebear · 24/03/2013 15:18

I've got the cherry. Was brilliant for first year, liked that I could use carry cot & maxi cosi car seat with it and seat bit is good too. Good for getting on & off buses & shopping bag underneath takes a good bit of shopping. I've abused mine quite a bit with overloading it with shopping & bumping it up & down the steps to our basement flat & it's still in good condition. I bought a maclaren when dd started nursery at 9 months and have used that much more recently as folds smaller for storage at nursery & in the car etc. I use cherry occasionally now (mostly if going shopping as its a better shopping trolley!) and it feels like a rolls Royce to push compaired with maclaren but dd looks a bit squashed in it now that's she's 2 so I'm not sure that its a great pushchair for older children.

Am expecting dc2 soon & looking forwards to using it more again with carry cot etc & hoping dd will use buggy board with it.

Thanks again for all your responses.

Will check out the review section as recommended.

Whatever stroller/pushchair we get, we do intend to use with a Maxi Cosi car seat :)

Love my icandy. Doesnt fold up that small tho, could be worth checking you will fit it in your car!

racheld33 · 24/03/2013 16:58

I love my i candy peach. Chunky and sturdy, always been happy with it, and still perfect condition for my DS2 Smile

Smitten1981 · 24/03/2013 18:16

I was looking at these yesterday, but the escalating price puts me off. So you have to buy the pram, then a carrycot, then a flavour pack, then adapters and a car seat. Not sure I can be bothered with all the faffing about. It's a toss up between an iCandy and a Phil & Ted's Promenade at the moment, which has a seat that can also be used as a carrycot.

Zoomania · 24/03/2013 18:21

Love my Icandy peach. Felt sturdier and better quality than all others I tested and so easy to put up and down. Do check it fits in your car though!

CareerGirl01 · 24/03/2013 18:22

Had an Apple iCandy a few years back - very heavy and it did not collapse easily (my DM DH and MIL hated using it) - and the front wheels broke when DD1 was 20 months - cost £800. Should have bought a Bugaboo.

teacher123 · 24/03/2013 18:27

I have an I candy cherry. Had it from birth with the carrycot attachment, maxi cosi car seat adapters and then the pushchair bit. DS is 11 months, I use it everyday and I love it. Chassis fits in the boot of my Toyota aygo, which is teeny weeny and it's very easy to put up and down. Have had no problems with it, and it's a good size for us. I keep meaning to buy a Maclaren/chicco style stroller as everyone seems to tell you that you need one as well as a travel system and I just haven't got round to it yet as haven't needed to. Think it cost us £580 for all that, including the maxi cosi car seat. Much cheaper than a bugaboo!

NeverKnowinglyHelpful · 24/03/2013 18:34

We've got an iCandy peach jogger, and so far it's been great (DD currently 9mo). Easy to push, good off road for walking the dog, folds up easily. The downsides are that it's quite heavy, still pretty bulky when folded, and when folded the handle touches the wheels so can get muddy. And having to buy accessories separately makes it very expensive.

Dynababy · 24/03/2013 19:39

Have peach love it but DS is growing out of it already at 18mths so will have to buy another stroller :(

emsyj · 25/03/2013 08:35

Moethercare have an offer at the moment to buy a Bugaboo Bee (which folds quite small, two of my friends have them) and get the Maxi Cosi car seat for free....

rrreow · 25/03/2013 13:13

I have an iCandy Peach and love it. It's heavy yes, but very very maneuverable. I have the carrycot attachment, the regular seat and the converters to be able to put a MaxiCosi carseat on it. It's very versatile and a dream to push. We got ours off eBay for probably around 1/3 of the cost of a new one.

We used it until DS was about 1-y-o at which point we got a MacLaren buggy because it's more convenient for folding up (the iCandy takes up pretty much the whole boot of our car) and also lighter (we live in a 1st floor flat). It's not nearly as comfortable to push though, much more effort.

I look forward to using the iCandy again for DS2.

AmberLav · 25/03/2013 13:16

I'm pretty much exactly the same as Helebear, down to also having a maclaren for nursery, and about to have DC2, so the carrycot will come back out again. I have a Clio, and it was picked as it fit in the boot and could use the carseat for short shopping trips.

I think there was a point in time where there was a problem with the wheels, but I think they have sorted that now (not have any problems and it was lumped around a lot!).

atrcts · 26/03/2013 23:38

I've just bought the iCandy peach as it's meant to be lighter than the apple. You can buy brand new velcro handlebar covers for a tenner off eBay so no problem with muddy handlebars! I like how sturdy it is built, how nice it looks and the size of the basket. It also is nice to have baby facing either way and comparable with maxi cosi car seat. Love the fact the resale value is good too!Wink
