Headaches

I'm getting a low-level headache what feels like most days. I'm 14 weeks. It's not stopping me doing anything but by most evenings I'm finding it's just got worse throughout the day. I'm seeing the midwife in two weeks, or is it more urgent and I should see the doctor before then? Also, any prevention advice?

Im 16 weeks and I've been having the same problem. It gets murderous at times. How's your neck? I found that constantly looking down (at my phone, a book, etc) made it worse, also really being aware of tension in your neck and relaxing and doing neck circles really helps. I spoke to my gp and she said its really easy to get dehydrated in pregnancy and that even if I think I've had enough water, to drink more. She recommended Floradix iron supplement as well even though I'm not anaemic, as sometimes even a small dip in iron causes headaches. Ugh I feel your pain, it's utterly shit but I seem to be getting a bit better doing these things so hopefully that helps!x

Oh and I was worried it was something serious but they checked me out and blood pressure and bloods and everything else was just fine. I think it's pretty common to get chronic headaches esp in 2nd trimester apparently. Those lovely hormones...

Thanks. I think my neck's okay, the pain seems to be right at the front of my head more than anything. I wonder if it's iron. Last time I had low iron levels. I think interrupted sleep is adding to it too.

I'm getting whopper headaches too. They started pretty much bang on 12 weeks and I'm 16 weeks now. They were quite sporadic at first, but this last week they've been near constant and bad enough to reach for a paracetomol (which are apparently fine to take but I still prefer not to if I can). I'm also getting this weird 'thumping' in my head - it doesn't exactly hurt, but it's like I can hear my heartbeat/pulse really loudly in my head. I've been trying to drink plenty...but I'm wondering if it's an iron thing now I've read this string. I had a great night's sleep last night (first in ages), and still got headache today, so for me it's not a sleep related thing.

I decided to go and see the doctor so have an appointment Wednesday. I'm trying to avoid painkillers too. Those forehead strips work but you look a bit of an idiot with one on at work!

Please see either midwife or GP asap as this could be related to Pre-eclampsia, This can be harmful to you and baby. Im 39 weeks and have not had this problem but its a bit raw for me as i lost my cousin 4 years ago to it. So please just get checked it will just be a urine sample or blood test. x

I had this mid pregnancy for about 10 weeks both times.

I saw a pharmacist and took paracetamol plus - the one with caffeine (its about the same amount as the safe pregnancy limit) as soon as the headache started (usually 5 or 6am!) and that killed it completely within half an hour. I have always suffered with hormonal migraines and this is what I take for them. The caffeine was v important, not sure why, but plain paracetamol did not work. Both my dcs were completely fine. Pharmacist advised on balance it was better to treat the pain rather than suffer extra stress due to the severe headache.
