Running through a stitch when pregnant?

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and run regularly. Yesterday I got a stitch about 10 mins in to my run which I couldn't get rid of. Pre-pregnancy I would run through a stich by concentrating on breathing/slowing down until the cramp has gone. But I'm not sure if the same applies in pregnancy.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Are stitches more common during pregnancy and is it safe to run through them?

I was a keen runner before pregnancy and up to 26 weeks I managed some runs - personally if I was in any pain or discomfort I'd stop. But then I didn't get stitches.

Is this your first pregnancy btw? Asking because you may/may not be aware that your body produces a hormone called relaxin which will help loosen your body in preparation for giving birth - however it relaxes all joints and makes them more susceptible to injury. My knees started aching after running which is why I quit. I'm not a medical expert but maybe your stitch was caused by things relaxing.

Thank you for your reply. Yes this is my first pregnancy and I wasn't aware of that.

I guess I have always been aware of how far I can push myself, but in pregnancy I just don't know as everything is changing!
