Evening mn
Any midwives or scientists or gestational diabetics out there??!
I do believe I am going to cry.
Don't misunderstand me I am not daft - I am aware that cooking from fresh or eating raw is the best thing all round. Really - I do know that.
I also know that I have to avoid pate brie etc soft eggs and uncooked meats (have no toxo immunity)
Since becoming diabetic I have taken to googling - always a bad move ;-)
but often things come up which then surprise me eg. cinammon and black pepper not good if pregnant although the former q. good if diabetic
I just idly googled canned soup and diabetes as I had just had mushroom soup and a wholemeal roll and wanted to know how 'bad' it was...
To discover anyone eating canned goods 5 days in a row are asking for trouble re a tinning process chemical BPA being 1000x more prevalent.
Have never been warneed against BPA never heard of it
Knew tinned tuna was once a week due to mercury but BPA - no idea.
So...the thing is I have been having tinned veggie soups for ages now but particularly recently as well as beans on toast and sardines on toast.
Knew it wasn't great but am awaiting a new cooker so only had access to a microwave (don't get me started on microwaves! ;-) and also have a toddler who loves beans and tomato soup.
Previous pregnancies always had home made soup from canteen at work
and first time salad and fruit bar in a school but this time round am at home and have had a lot of convenience food
Also use tinned tomatoes in cooking chilli bolog etc
Is BPA a legitimate concern or is the study bad science? Talk of increased levels causing hormone changes diabetes heart risks and attention deficit /hyperactivity in toddlers after fetal exposure
As I am now 30 weeks I can only change the last ten.
Am I alone at never having heard of this and should I just add it to the long list of foods that are now pupportedly bad for me or should I take it a lot
more seriously?
Thanks in advance x
