How do you know it's hiccups

I'm 23 and 5. Reading the kick counter thing it seems that hiccups don't count towards the movement you should be monitoring but how do you know it's hiccups?

I've got a variety of different movements but couldn't distinguish one type as hiccups. Are they very different to other movements?

Hi, when I was pregnant my dd always got hiccups, the sensation was totally different to her kicking/moving.. It felt a lot milder, I knew where her head was which helped to know the difference, she also always got them as I had just got into bed.

For me the difference is its rhythmic. Generally kicks are variable in rhythm and intensity. I've only noticed it about three times as hiccoughs and I'm 35 weeks!

When they get hiccups you'll know!! Just one of those things, but it is very obvious when they are hiccuping instead of kicking/moving.

You might not notice early on. You can tell because there is a definite rhythm and pattern, rather than the odd kick that can stop. It feels a bit like a pulse.

Thank you everyone!

Hmm I've had some rhythmic movements on the head side which I thought may be hiccups but I wouldn't say I definitely know they're hiccups iyswim

Can head side movements be anything else like arms moving around?

First time I noticed hiccups was at 30 weeks. Because the sound came from the same place and went on and on ... :)
