Yes it's safe to put a few drops in your bath.

I tried it (and everything else!) but DD didn't arrive until 41+5 Hmm

Dc1, overdue, had to be evicted at 42 wks.

Dc2, overdue, used a blend of clary sage and jasmine. Back massage with the oil Sunday, rubbed bump with oil Tuesday, came Thursday 2am 41 wks exactly.

Not sure if it was the oil but I was just glad not to be induced again!

Best wishes!

I tried it with both ds's and it def helped. Used it on a carrier oil and massaged on my bump- did it from 38 weeks onwards to try and stimulate contractions as was having a fair few braxton hicks.made them a lot stronger. However be warned it smells vile! But if you don't mind smelling like a wet dog in the wood then that's fine :)

Ds1 born at 38+6 and ds2 at 39+3. No idea if the clary safe helped but made me feel proactive (along with the madras, nipple tweaks and pineapples)

I've heard it's safe..it gave me braxoton hicks, but didn't send me into labour.

I did go into labour soon after accidentally spilling Jasmine oil all over myself, though.

I used it from 38 weeks with dc1. didnt make a blind bit of difference, induced at 41+10. but I used it having been told it CAN work, so prob does for some...

My midwife suggested clary sage oil to kick off labour when I was overdue with dd. it didn't work. Two days before my induction I was spilling it over my belly and on my pillow to start things naturally.

Quick note of caution: I started using a few drops in my bath when overdue (loved the smell, think my olefactory senses were haywire!) and had it at the ready when I was in labour (one week over, homebirth). The midwife was cautious and said not to use it until I was a little more dilated. The reason for this (as she later told me) is that the oil stimulates contractions so fiercely in some cases that it can become dangerous if the cervix is not ready (like pushing on a closed door). The example she gave was accurate as I later became close friends with the woman she told me about who had a c-section in the end. NOT intended to be some awful scare story (and it's clear that some posters found it totally placebo in effect) but perhaps do mention it to your midwife just to get a view before you go ahead. Good luck - and remember that being overdue is Nature's way of making you do fat diddly-squat and get some ZZZZZs Smile.
