Just looking for some support or advice to anyone going through this or having been through it. It's a lot to take in and were getting our heads around what this means.

Have a look on the premature birth section. There's a long thread with a few different members who had early caesarians due to placental insufficiency/iugr.

I'm sorry you are facing this worrying situation and hope all goes as smoothly as possible.

I had my first caesarian at 35 w for iugr. 2 weeks in scbu otherwise fine and I did establish breastfeeding sucessfully.

I had an early emergency section at 29 weeks due to severe PE.

Is there anything in particular you'd like to know?

Your better off going to the prem birth section :)

I had my dd at 32 weeks, spontaneously though not through c section. I'll just put your mind at rest abit, although it's very early babies at 32 weeks do incredibly well, my dd was 3lb 10oz when she was born and spent 5 weeks in scbu, she was breathing on her own within 6 hours of being born and other than her being tiny she had no problems! She's now nearly 2 and you would never even know she was prem :)

It is worrying and it is hard but honestly babies do soo well born at that gestation :)

Thanks for the reassurance. I have posted in the prem birth section too.

Lots I guess I just want to know what to expect at the SCBU, what to do to prepare etc? I am so clueless anyway, let alone with this hurdle!

Regarding scbu, expect your baby to be in an incubator, wired up, possible(most likely) drips and definitely to have a tube through his/her nose down into his/her tummy to be fed with as at 32weeks babies don't have the swallow reflex. Scbu staff are more often than not absolutely lovely as they have to deal with emotion parents :) unless there are health issues with your baby youll be able to hold him/her, if your planning on breast feeding you'll have to express so baby can have your milk through a tube, if your bottle feeding the scbu usually supply the formula but depends on the hospital :)

I found it hard to bond with my dd until she was out of the incubator and into hotcot :) bare that in mind if the connection you naturally assume will be there isn't there. My dd was taken straight to scbu, the First I saw of her was a photograph, I then didn't see her for over an hour after the birth!
