All day sickness: I work part time most days until 3ish, and then have my 20 month old ball of energy and willful stubbornness until DP gets home about 6ish.

All I want to do is lie flat on the sofa with a bucket to retch into, and a duvet to huddle under.

DD is watching an alarming amount of cbeebies - what else can I do with her while these weeks or wretchedness pass? She's not good at playing on her own yet....

Very similar here Rainbow it's horrible isn't it! My DS is just turned 2 so slightly older, but I'm finding other that cbeebies we are having some time reading together, he plays with his blocks on the coffee table which I've pulled next to the couch so I can join in without having to move too much! I've told a couple of friends who have toddlers and they are coming round for playdates so DS isn't too bored. Oh, and we have a park just round the corner so every day where it's been dry over the last 2 weeks we have gone round there and I've parked myself on a bench and let him explore the park!

Yes reading works here as well, but it makes me "car sick" if that makes sense? As does talking on the phone bizarrely...

Bizarrely I'm trying to do more, get out or have people around. The more I'm in I just want to sit and groan so I'm trying to keep busy. Having to go to bed at 9pm to make up for it of course!

hey rainbow, i'm 19.5 weeks now, working fulltime with a 20 mo so feel your pain! although it's not the nausea that gets me now, it's the tiredness :-( luckily DH doesn't get in too soon after me so I generally only have her by myself for an hour or two but 'hard work' doesn't even half way cover it.
DD got a lot of Happyland toys for xmas so I'm often laid on the lounge floor playing that with her, or she likes to draw or sometimes reads books - nothing for more than about 5 minutes at a time though as she seems to have the attention span of a gnat!!
She also likes her Play Dough, so coffee table next to the sofa and that's another 5 minutes of entertainment.
and in the long run, CBeebies for a few months won't do any long term damage!!

Same! Am currently lying on my back on the sofa with DS (2) on top of me watching Harry and Toto. Feel terrible, and guilty that he has had the whole day at home and I feel to sick to do any of the MSc work I should have done. DH home from 2 days away 9pm and am counting down the minutes! Today we have done a lot of puzzles lying on the floor.

RainbowsFriend · 14/03/2013 18:13

Well lying on the floor rather than the sofa worked reasonably well this afternoon - she engaged more with her duplo etc than when I lie on the sofa - so I resorted to cbeebies less frequently.

Of course - when she decided to use me as a trampoline - well that didn't help the nausea any! Grin

Nursery? Childminder?

RainbowsFriend · 14/03/2013 18:17

Well in my case DD is with a childminder until 3ish when I get home from work - but she can't take her any later due to after school pupils would take her above numbers....

Not a tip...but when i was pregnant with ds2, i let dd1 watch a fair bit of cbeebies when i was feeling particularly bad. Clearly too much, as now every time i hear the theme tune to zingzillas or the tweenies i start gagging and heaving again!

Creamtea1 · 14/03/2013 18:24

bilton snap! Was a few yrs ago when was pregnant with ds2 and ds1 was about 15 months. Cbeebies was my friend!! For weeks.. And weirdly, just like you, I can't now hear the balamory or granny Murray (? Don't know if it was even called that!) without feeling sick!
This time round as both are at school - homes under the hammer makes me feel bleurgh..

onyx72 · 14/03/2013 18:26

I used to lie on the sofa with cbeebies on and roll balls to my 18mo DS. Grin

Eletheomel · 14/03/2013 18:55

I worked mornings and used to pick my DS up at 1pm, but when I was so bad with the morning sickness (which hit me mainly in the 2nd trimester) I ended up having to keep him with the childminder full-time until my DH could pick him up.

I felt incredibly guilty, but I was just physically incapable of looking after him (hit me one day when I had to lie down on my bed and he was in his room, and he came back to tell me he had climbed up on the bookcase to stand on the windowsill and wave to folk passing - I was appalled that I'd allowed him to put himself in danger, but more so that I still couldn't get off the bed as I felt so sick - the next day he was in full time childcare.

To be honest - I still feel guilty for all those weeks.

Grumpla · 14/03/2013 19:01

Please don't feel guilty about asking for and accepting any help that is available for you - whether that means leaning on friends & family, paying for extra childcare or keeping the TV on round the clock!

I had an appalling pregnancy 2nd time round but I look at them playing together now, how much enjoyment DS1 gets from having a little brother, and I think a few months of extra TV and toast-based meals were definitely worth it for him in the long run!

MumofWombat · 14/03/2013 23:45

I have no idea how I would have got through this pregnancy without cbebbies and the iPad.
I'm a bad mum, I know.
