Sorry if this sounds trivial, but it is really getting me down!

My hair is one of the only things I like about my appearance, as it is thick and shiny and in good condition, however, since having ds 2 years ago I have had periods where it has gone vv greasy in a certain patch near my parting. The last time was about 6 mo ago when I stopped bf ds, and my hairdresser said it was hormonal.

Now I am 13 weeks pg and it has done it again! I don't feel great atm, v sick and tired, and going to work with greasy hair just makes me feel utterly disgusting. I have tried lots of things, changing shampoo, washing it with washing up liquid (! But it was the hairdressers suggestion), using dry shampoo, but nothing shifts it. I feel like when I'm washing it the shampoo can't lather properly as it is so greasy.

Has anyone else had this? Any suggestions?

I've had this last pregnancy, and it seems to be happening again this time although not quite so bad! I used a clarifying shampoo and washed it twice each time I washed it which seemed to help. It was worse if I didn't condition it so I use a very light conditioner then Argan oil before drying it. Doesn't make my hair as nice as pre pregnancy but it's a million times better than it had been!

This happened to me and really got me down. i just couldn't get it clean until a helpful hairdresser suggested a) and b).

Have you tried ...

a) shampooing it twice?

I had hairdresser after hairdresser say I needed to come see them to sort out my post-baby greasy hair. Then one manager of a salon said all I needed to do was wash it twice each time because it's so thick. I really concentrate on the greasy areas for the first wash.

b) tried one of those shampoos that cleanses your hair and removes lots of product? It removes the build up of product which can cause greasy hair.

I used Tony & Guys on a hairdreaser's recommendation.

Hope that helps.

I had greasy hair in the first half of this pg. I can empathise with the depression about it as usually my hair is something I feel confident about. I used 'jumping juniper' solid shampoo from Lush which is formulated for oily hair ( and not very expensive) I was really pleased with it. I also only used a light conditioner and only from about half way down my hair, not by the roots.
My hair still got greasy but not as quickly and at least it looked like normal the day it was washed.

FWIW By about 20 weeks the greasy hair got significantly better and now looks better than ever! I hope you experience the same.

I get greasy hair and find that the roots aren't as bad when I get blonde highlights as it dries them out. Don't know what colour your hair is and might be a bit extreme but maybe worth a try if getting you down.
I think dying your hair when pregnant isn't seen as a big thing these days.

I am also a big lover of dry shampoo.

Make sure you use the dry shampoo for your specific hair colour. I am blonde (highlighted) and use the Batiste one for blondes. It is far better than the non specific colour ones.

Im with lolly on this one. The jumping juniper shampoo bar has totally saved me from going mad ! Smells lovely and lasts for ages but most importantly does the job.

I've always had a problem with greasy hair & over the years have tried EVERYTHING dry shampoos are good but only last so long, have found the Treseme to be the best for my hair.

The 2 best ways of dealing with it I've found are dying my hair (bit extreme) & Tony & Guy Resurrection Dust. But don't put it on as a preventative measure, use it once its started to get a bit greasy & it'll soak it up. It leaves your hair feeling quite dry but I'm guessing you'd welcome that right now. I hope you find something that works for you.

Don't forget though the more you touch & brush your hair the more you'll stimulate the glands & worse it will get. It's best to style your hair off your face so you're not constantly brushing it back & at all costs you must resist the urge to try & fix it throughout the day - you'll only make it worse!! Good luck.
