Does anyone know how much raspberry leaf (dried loose leaves) I should use to make raspberry leaf tea? Is it better sweetened or not? Sorry to ask such a dumb question & thanks in advance!

Just put it in a warmed pot then add water. Not everyone likes it but I really loved it during my pregnancies. I didn't sweeten it with anything, but I guess you can if you like.

I didn't sweeten it and made it as with any loose tea (one spoon for each cup and one for the pot lol) in a tea pot or just one spoon if using a "in cup thingy"!

I liked it but it is an aquired taste I think!

Thank you so much secur & spidermama! I had no idea how much to put in & didn't want to OD on the stuff! xxx

No prob! - not wanting to seem like an old lady but you have had all the advice on when wnd when not to drink it havn't you? (I am assuming you are pg?)

sorry to ask such a silly question but do you have to strain the tea to get rid of the leaves?

Coolmama · 09/06/2006 19:58

it comes in a teabag version - no need to faff with the loose leaves if you don't want to.

juuule · 09/06/2006 20:05

I didn't reckon much to the teabag version. I much preferred the loose leaves. I would spoon about 3 heaped desertspoons into an average teapot. Fill with boiling water (well just off the boil) and drink throughout the day. By the end of the day it was quite strong. It brought my iron levels back up though.

MummyToToby · 09/06/2006 20:23

but if you do use the loose leaves do you have to strain it or not?

juuule · 09/06/2006 20:25

Yep.. I used a tea strainer.

MummyToToby · 09/06/2006 20:57

cheers! i've never made loose tea before and i knew a strainer was involved somewhere ..!! should be a feels like an idiot emoticon on here!

Just remembered - it was nettle tea that I took during pregnancy to up iron levels. I drank the RL from 37weeks and post-partum to tone up uterus. Both made in the same way, though.
