Hope someone can give me some advice! I'm 8 weeks pregnant and for the last week and a half I've had an upset stomach Blush it's not constant but has been on and off for ages now.

Is this quite common? Anything I can do / take to ease it? I've got nausea as well but not being sick so DH reckons this is my version of morning sickness Hmm

Hey rock Smile

I had this for a while around that time - it's gross but after reading the September thread I just ended up being grateful not to have the opposite problem like so many ladies there did. We have a thread poo crown and everything! Grin

I was the same from about 6-8 weeks and nothing since then !

Yes usually it's the other way but loose stools are common too.

I'd reccomend taking a daily probiotic to help your digestive system. I can't stomach yoghurts since I got pregnant but I have the Yakult drinks as I can neck them ok!

I envy you - I had completely the other problem! It is nothing to worry about though - it is hormone changes affecting your entire system, mostly works 'the other way' but can have the opposite effect.

But - if you are worried, get you GP to check (you may have to provide a 'sample' - ahem) and they can check it in a lab for bacteria, which they may need to give you antibiotics for - but only if - TMI ALERT - you think it is bad - like very watery/sore and is as soon as you eat anything at all (I had that on honeymoon- very romantic! lol) etc I think - anyway, if worried, check. Best of luck x

Thanks all - will try a probiotic drink thingy and see if that helps. Don't think it's bad enough to need to see the Dr, hopefully it'll stop soon like your experience Ra!

I was lucky enough to have both constipation and explosive diarrhoea. I alternated. The first time it happened I thought I had norovirus as It woke me in the night and I barely made it to the loo. Unfortunately it's just your hormones doing their thing. The good news is that the more symptoms you have, the less likely you are to m/c. At about 20 weeks I started a fibre supplement and everything evened out for me. Ask your midwife/doctor. They may be able to recommend something for you. Personally in the first trimester I avoided remedies, even ones deemed safe during pregnancy. Although it feels like an eternity at the time, it really is a short period of time that baby is forming vital organs and limbs etc.. You'll get through this stage soon.

Oh no Mama poor you! I'm the same with trying to avoid medication in the first trimester, but am concerned about vitamin absorption if my digestion is clearly working overtime :)

I had this too. I found oily and spicy foods made it much worse. You might find your body is rejecting something in particular.

I thought that like morning sickness, it was just one of the things some women get and have to suffer through. Just want to add that diarrhoea makes you dehydrated pretty quickly so you need to drink lots of water.

FoofFighter · 08/03/2013 17:40

I had this as well in first tri and now at 17 weeks it appears to have returned, (lovely bout of norovirus in between too!!)

I think it is just morning sickness in reverse Grin
