Experiences of big babies? :)

Hi all.
Had my anatomy scan yesterday, having a boy :) everything is ok with baby and he's all in proportion, but he's huge :/ he is on the top line of the growth chart and I'm just wondering if anyone else has ha to have early deliveries because of big babies?
He's also breech at the minute, I know there's time or him to turn but with him being a big boy is it likely that he will stay as he is? I don't see my mw for another 6/7 weeks so I haven't been booked in for a growth scan just yet but te sonographer yesterday said e would recommend I have one. She hasn't written this in y notes though.
I'm 20+5
Xx

I don't trust scans for accurate readings tbh. My son was always under and got told he would be smaller then my ds who was 6ib 8 2wks over. I however felt as though he was much bigger, he turned at around 33 weeks, breech is normal at 20wks and he will have room to move round. My son was born not overly huge but 9ib at 40wks and was only in size 6-8 normal clothes whilst right to end. So he was big for me. He took a while to come out but he did eventually xx

I think scans are pretty hit and miss to be honest. So many people are told one thing and baby is quite the opposite. I don't think your body will make a baby that you are not able to birth so i'd just relax :-)

For what its worth I was a huge baby and my Mum had me naturally with hypnosis and said it was an easy delivery.

I don't think breech at 20 weeks is anything to worry about. Baby still has tons of room to move!

Congratulations on the great scan Thanks

Congratulations!

I'm with beckie, I had friends at this stage that were told they were having big babies only to go on and have far smaller ones, and then friends that had to go in for loads of extra scans to monitor growth whose babies came out perfectly average. It's all very hit and miss and long as he's healthy nothing to worry about as long as you / him are healthy. The midwife may test you for diabetes, if your baby continues to be big - I know they kept doing that to one of my friends.

Certainly also wouldn't worry about breech at this early stage.

Thanks :)
With my last 2 the scans were pretty accurate, ds1 was on the bottom line and was a very small 6lber, ad my daughter measured big, but not as bit as this one and she was 9.3lb. I was induced at 39 weeks with her but she decided she was coming out at 4-5cm and got stuck. By of a horrendous delivery really :/

I had big babies. Dd was 8lb 15oz at 40 wks and ds 9lb 11oz at 42 weeks. Both natural deliveries. Episiotomy first time. No tearing or cuts second. Was told dd would be average weight. Ds was big throughout with particularly big tummy at 36 week scan but is in fact now 9 weeks and long and thin. Remember our bodies tend to grow the babies we can handle and deliver, or the human race would die out. X

I second homophone above...i think in general your body grows a baby the right size for you. I think when babies get stuck during delivery it tends to be because they're in a less than ideal position, rather than too big.

I always thought: "7lbs or 10lbs, it's still all BIG to be coming out of that hole!!".

My DS was 9lb 3oz and I had a nice natural birth. It was hard work pushing him out, but manageable, and I didn't actually find the pushing stage painful: just v hard work. I had a small tear which healed within a week (ie no pain after a week) and after 7 weeks I was able to have sex again with no discomfort. The human body is amazing!!

I would say do your pelvic floor exercises - I felt like I really used them to push DS out and that my exercises whilst pregnant really paid off :)
