I'll keep it short (through the tears). Had second scan today which I was convinced would show I had miscarried my baby (7wks) but hospital will not diagnose miscarriage as sac has got bigger in last 7 days. I have to go back in another 8 days for a final assessment because she said there is a "remote chance" it will develop into a baby. if there is no baby next Tuesday then that's that. I've been bleeding heavily with cramps for 9 days now - what on earth is going on! Guess what I am asking is (a)if anyone has ever experienced this and gone on to see a baby despite it looking like no hope and (b) if all hope does go next Tuesday, what type of "management" do I go for? Tablets or surgery (D&C). have read the facts but wondered if people's actual experience was any different to what the medics say. Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear your news it is just awful to feel you have to wait, if you have been bleeding and cramping it could be that you will miscarry naturally
I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum, there was no foetus At the 10 week scan I then had to go back a week later to confirm but never had any bleeding so went for d& c the next day which was easy & painless in my experience
Again so sorry to hear your news you may find a better response on the miscarriage board and more people with experience to share

Where is the miscarriage board? I looked but couldn't find one. With your D&C, were you under a general anaesthetic?

Hi williwonti, im so sorry to hear that you are going through this especially having to go through days of bleeding and no clear answer.

Fingers crossed that they are right and it gets better, but if the worst happens, The miscarriage section is under 'body and soul'. There is lots of great advice there that I turned to when in a similar situation as you last November.

Personally I chose an ERPC (effectively a D&C) as like you I'd already been bleeding for over a week and just wanted it to be over so I could start to try to move on. There are a lot of comments in the MC section that say medical management is very hard going, but likewise there are risks of surgery. The hospital should explain all this and if they imply you can have an ERPC as you've already been bleeding, don't feel that you can't still push for it as the bleeding can continue for a long time.

Again really sorry and hugs. Hopefully your DP is looking after you.
Thanks

I forgot to say that like hokey I found the ERPC physically easy (in and out of hospital in the morning). Physiologically it didn't stop it being a terrible experience all round, but I could start to move on once the bleeding had stopped.

Hello yes I went under GA it was the first time if ever had one but it was ok having my dh with me made a lot of difference to how I felt yes or was a horrible time all round bit for me I just wanted it to all be over as quickly as possible hence why I went for d & c

I'm so sorry you're going through this - do go over to the miscarriage board as there's loads of useful stuff there. I miscarried at 8 weeks over Christmas, and there was only a sac, no baby. I opted for the 'wait and see' approach, and it took about 3 weeks for the sac to come out from when the bleeding started - was a very long process involving lots of hospital visits and blood tests, but it did all work out ok in the end. I found telling friends about it helped, but it is such an awful thing to happen.
