Hi ladies!
As per my previous post I think I'm around 8 weeks with another 3/4 to wait until I have my booking apt. I've been doing some research into what vitamins/supplements I should be taking but there is a lot of conflicting advice out there. I know folic acid is a definite but what else should I be taking? Thank you x

Vitamin D with calcium. Other than that, not a lot is vital although I found a general supplement with Magnesium helps with the hormones! I opted for sanatogen mum to be because it had a higher level of vitamin D than I could get if buying vitamin D and calcium separately.

I also have used seven seas trying for a baby which I was taking while ttc so gp told me to carry on after my bfp as they had added goodness other than just frolic acid

Haha that meant to say folic auto correct is on lol x

Are you taking any at all? I remember your previous thread. If I were you I would ask a pharmacist. It is not true that a baby takes everything that it needs from mum. Whatever we are deficient in the baby will be too so a prenatal is a good way to make sure all bases are covered. Time is ticking on and your baby is fast developing and needs all the help she can get. Congrats on your pregnancy Smile

Take a pregnancy multivitamin as a minimum as soon as you can. The folic acid is really important in the first 12 weeks. You then might want to supplement with vitamin d and a fish oil (not cod liver oil). It's really important to take a pregnancy specific multivitamin as normal vitamins contain too much vitamin a and not enough folic acid. Pregnancy takes a lot out of you so the multivitamin will support you as well as baby.

Thanks. I've been taking folic acid since I found out and picked up a general vitamins with iron today, but will try pick up a pregnancy specific one instead - hadn't seen them anywhere before. Thank you!

Just don't take any Vit A supplements as a surplus of this can harm your baby. You should be getting just enough from your diet.

I'd check the fish oil is safe in pregnancy. This means it has been filtered to remove the mercury which can be harmful. The standard omega 3 one from healthspan is fine (that's what I'm on anyway).

Eskimo brand is also good.

Tesco do a pregnancy multivitamin with omega 3 that's not too expensive.
